I have to get in on this Ransom Andrews thing. I have been trying to hunt down the parents of my John Andrews b. abt 1750 probably in CT. He moved to Chenango Co., NY somewhere around 1800. His first son b. 1775 is Stephen. In looking around Chenango I found a Roswell Andrews. He has a son Ransom Rathbone Andrews. Samuel, son of John, named one of his sons Hiram Ranson Andrews. Samuel moved to Ashtabula Co., OH about 1821. Did any of your Andrews go to New York before going on to Ohio???? Do any of these lines fit into your Andrews???? Re the message about the gravesite in North Cutler from David Huntley; I visited this gravesite in Sepember 1997 when I was taken there by Robert Kord, the author of "Down East to Cutler" (See Chapter 6). I saw Abraham's stone and one with M.A. and another which was undecipherable. The spot is so beautiful that, whenever I am in Machias, I make the trip along to that location. As I have always been alone, I have been hesitant to explore again into the spot where I had seen the stones, as it is in rough, blueberry ground, very close to the drop-off to the water. I certainly agree that it would be very sad if developers were allowed to bulldoze this site in order to build upon it or for any other reason and I would be happy to provide an affadavit to the effect that I know that these stones existed. I didn't have my camera with me when I went the first time as I went in Robert's car; I'm not positive whether I ever got in to take a picture later because of it's inaccessibility but I'll look. If Robert Kord still lives there, surely he can attest to its existence. I am a descendant of Lt. John Andrews of Chebacco, Essex MA (1635) through his son William and William's youngest son Solomon and for the past 15 years or so have been trying to find as many descendants of Lt. John (of whom Ehphraim and Nathan were two) as I can. One of the favorite places to which my research has taken me is Machias and surrounding area. Its special charm is its unspoiled setting. If you can provide me with David Huntley's e-mail address, I will contact him that way. Otherwise I will write to him in North Cutler.
