He was the builder of many of the fine homes of Hudson in the early days. He served a year or so as a carpenter for the Army in Tennessee during the Civil War. With his son Emory, he moved to Lincoln, Nebraska in 1868. His sons Henry and Howard followed the next year. He returned to Hudson where he died. Note that both [1711 - 1778] and [1788 - 1855] agree with the 67 year figure. Most likely is that 1888 was written erroneously for 1788 and 1855 is correct. The 1790 census confirms 1788 if Daniel was the two-year-old; also 1850 agrees with the Chautauqua County war records that list his death date as 1 December 1855. I feel that this Joel ANDROUS/ANDREWS (1752) is my GGGgrandfather. I have absolutely NO tanglable proof. But the times, dates, events do conveniently fit my information. What I do have is this. My GGgrandfather Joel Androus/Andrews was born in St. Clair Co. MI 1822. Joel (b. 1822) 2 brothers-John, Jacob L.S., and 1 sister-Electa Androus Woolverton were born in NY. Joel (b.1822) is the last child born to Sarah and Joel (1753). Sarah was born in 1795 PA. We could assume Sarah was not the first wife. Sarah married a William Hill in St. Clair 1827. Together they had 5 children. I have probate papers concerning property in St. Clair belonging to Sarah giving to Joel (b.1822). And then the same property being returned to mother Sarah. Son Joel (b. 1822) left St. Clair around 1840+- never to return. Joel (b. 1822) kept in contact with at least one of his Hill nephews. I am fully aware that convience and assumtion do not fit into genealogy...that is why I can not rightfully claim this Joel(b. 1753) as my relative.... I would however LOVE to be proved right/or wrong....

    2. In what era was this Sam Andrews active? I recall a Sam Andrews visiting us in Wilson County, Tennessee sometime in the 1940-50 time frame. He said he was a relative from Arkansas and stayed with us for a few days. Unfortunately, I can't remember much about him except he was probably in his 60's at the time but really spry! 3. I have a William Andrews in my family in Floyd Co., GA., in 1850. I have been unable to locate him or a brother, Solomon, after this date. Their father's name was George W. Andrews. Does this fit in anywhere with your Andrews? vk ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, June 13, 2004 8:16 AM Subject: [ANDREWS-L] William and Sarah Andrews (Parents of Samuel W. I found one family tree that places them starting out in Rome (Floyd County) Georgia, complete with lots of family dates. Problem is that name spellings do not square with census info that puts them in Faulkner County, AR for 1880 census. > > All the spelling inconsistencies made me suspicious and a little research turned up nothing. I have not been able to confirm anything in earlier Georgia Census. While I know both William M Andrews (Willian N. in the other tree) and Sarah (shown as Sarah May Brown) were from Georgia, I can get any confirmation.
