Surnames: SCARBOROUGH & ANDREWS Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Wm.2ADEB/2966.1 Message Board Post: Dear Deborah, I think that the Rev. Lewis Scarborough (b. 6 Aug 1809, NC) whose parents were Samuel Scarbrorough and Mary Andrews may be the same individual as the Lewis Scarbrough (b.ABT 1810, NC) whose father was Samuel Scarbrough (b. ABT 1783, Brunswick Co., VA; d. AFT 1850, Montgomery Co., NC). The latter Samuel was a first cousin of my GGG-Grandfather William Scarbrough (b.14 Sep 1775, Brunswick Co., VA; d. 7 Apr 1857, Montgomery Co., NC). Samuel's father was Lewis Scarbrough/Scarburgh (b. BEF 1730, VA?;d. BET 15 Feb 1797/27 Feb 1797, Brunswick Co., VA) while William's father was John Scarbrough/Scarburgh (b. ABT 1716, VA?; d. BET 6 Jun 1814/ 4 Jan 1815, Montgomery Co., NC). Samuel, John were two of at least four sons of Edward Scarbrough of Surry County, Virginia. William and Edward were the other two. If "your" Samuel Scarborough and Rev. Lewis Scarborough (b. 6 Aug 1809) and "my" Samuel Scarbrough and Lewis Scarborough (b.ABT 1810) are the same father-son pair, I can provide you with the unbroken documented lineage back to William Scarborough/Scarburgh of Bacon's Rebellion (b.ABT 1630, North Walsham, England;d.16 Mar 1676/77, Surry Co., VA) and Amy Naomi Davis. I have extensively researched most, if not ALL, of the Brunswick County, Virginia and Montgomery County, North Carolina Scarbrough/Scarburgh families. The Scarborough and Andrew families intermarried with great frequency from at least the mid-1700s to early 1800s in Brunswick County, Virginia, Montgomery County, North Carolina as well as Stewart County, Tennessee. I can probably also locate the Mary Andrews, wife of Samuel Scarborough and mother of the Rev.Lewis Scarborough. I have a lot of information that I am willing to share with you that is too voluminous to post on a message board. I don't make it to many of them very often anyway. I found yuor query on Samuel/Lewis while searching for Lewis. Please e-mail me directly at [email protected] when you post a reply to my message on Ancestry.com. I will be happy to respond to other researchers as well! Best Regards, Alex Scarbrough Centennial, Colorado

    1. James Highsmith Andrews
    2. Looking for descendants of James Highsmith ANDREWS (ca1800-1846) m. Jane TUCKER. Jane TUCKER ANDREWS (widow) was near neighbor of Eliza ODOM ANDREWS (widow of Frederick ANDREWS) in the 1850, 1860, and 1870 Census records in Cotton Hill, Randolph County, Georgia. Both widows had many sons who fought for the Confederacy and each lost one during the war. Frederick's descendants have been trying for years to locate his father. Several years ago I corresponded with one of JHA's descendants through this medium who said they knew nothing about his siblings but knew that JHA belonged to the "William Hill ANDREWS" line. Having given up on finding any written records on our end, I'd like more information on the William Hill ANDREWS line.

Howard’s birthplace was passed on to us as Hudson, Wisconsin. The 1850 AND 1860 censuses give Ammah’s occupation as carpenter. His twin was named Amasa Andrews. His occupation is “clerk in store”. His parents birthplace is shown as Massachusetts. He is living in the household of his daughter Laura Adelaide “Addie” Harding. Andrews 1864-1865 with a genealogy of the Andrews Family”; Ammah Andrews was born in Litchfield, Herkimer Co., New York, a twin brother of Amasa and died in Hudson, St. Croix Co., Wis., January 5, 1888. He was married three times. His first wife was Laura Andrews, probably a cousin (who was born June 5, 1803 and died at Commerce, Washington County, Michigan, May 22, 1842). He married April 6, 1843 at Commerce, Washington County, Michigan, as his second wife Martha Fuller, who died in Hudson August 22, 1850, age 38 years, four months and 24 days. His third wife Catherine Scott (1820-1864), died in Hudson. Ammah Andrews was a carpenter, as was his father, and came to Hudson about 1847. He was the builder of many of the fine homes of Hudson in the early days. He served a year or so as a carpenter for the Army in Tennessee during the Civil War. With his son Emory, he moved to Lincoln, Nebraska in 1868. His sons Henry and Howard followed the next year. He returned to Hudson where he died. From ‘Hudson’s Distinguished Men and Women” by Willis H. Miller: Another early comer whose handiwork is still extremely visible in Hudson, was Ammah Andrews (1801-1888), builder and contractor, who settled here in 1847. A great number of the beautiful old homes, many of which were built before the Civil War, were planned and constructed by Ammah Andrews. He was chairman at the first meeting of the county commissioners for St. Croix County in 1848.

They start out as grapes, and it's up to the woman to stomp the crap out of them until they turn into something acceptable to have dinner with. Skinny people irritate me! Especially when they say things like, "You know, sometimes I just forget to eat." Now I've forgotten my address, my mother's maiden name, and my keys. But I've never forgotten to eat. You have to be a special kind of stupid to forget to eat. Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day; teach that person to use the Internet and they won't bother you for weeks.
