You might do better on the Crawford Co., MO site for info. I am trying to connect your Gilbert as a younger brother to my Newton Andrews who is also buried at Earney Cemetery. I found Gilbert in the 1850 Crawford Co., census with his parents H. and B. Andrews. Do you know who they were?

I checked with libraries in Berwick Maine and they have no record of James Hamilton Andrews. I found some reference to a James H. Andrews, father J. Andrews in the 1870 census. carlotta was married twice. Once to a Mr. George and last to a Mr. Alejandro. She was my grandmother. Chase Andrews lived in Ohio in 1892. There was also a Fanny Andrews whose photos I have. One was taken in St. Louis MO. Another has her dressed in Civil War era clothing. I don't know how she ties in to the family. There is also a Fanny mentioned in an 1892 letter from J. Andrews (JH's dad?) to Chase. Only this Fanny sounds like a child staying with JAndrews. James H Andrews located his family in Corpus Christi, TX after immigrating through Laredo during the Mexican Revolution. he returned to Mexico to work. His family had to relocate to San Antonio after the hurricane of 1919 wiped out their home and belongings. Have you heard anything from this board?

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Wm.2ADEB/3018 Message Board Post: I am hoping to hear from Andrews researchers regarding this family. Recently another researcher shared with me some correspondence written by my great-grandfather's brother William E. Andrews (Illinois 1861-1942). W.E. Andrews writes that his own parents were Joseph Andrews and Susannah Ellis; his paternal grandparents were Richard Andrews and Mary Lane and that his paternal great-grandparents were John Andrews and Sarah-"somebody" He also has written that the family came into America from SCOTLAND after the battle of Culladen Moor (in about 1750.) Many on-line researchers declare that the John Andrews mentioned here is the son of Thomas an immigrant from ENGLAND and Sarah Ellis, daughter of Benjamin Ellis. Many other researchers provide further details about this couple, such as John Andrews will of 1764 which is available on line and states that his sons are Frederick and Stephen. An explanation as to why Richard is not mentioned is that because he was so young (born 1756) he was not recognized in the will. With this "new" information, I am questioning this hypothesis. Does anyone have any information that can help me sort this out? I am sincerely grateful for any information. Thank you.

We are both descended from Samuel and Rebecca Angello Mapes Andrews. He is descended through Samuel's and Rebecca's son Samuel Henry Andrews. Here is the info that I found of particular interest. All of this is speculation, but it is good speculation. Samuel H. had a son Nelson and a son Henry Sherman. There is a Nelson born to Roswell Andrews in Chenango Co. in 1810. There is a Nelson born to Asa Andrews b. 1756 and Lucy Ackley in 1799 in CT Asa and Lucy also had a son Sherman in 1790 The above Asa is the son of Nehemiah Andrews b. 1722 in CT and Hannah Borden. They have a son Eli b. 1753, Samuel b. 1755, and other children. Richard sent me a letter which mentions the Biographical History of Northeastern Ohio, Embracing the Counties of Ashtabula, Geauga, and Lake, 1893. In it, it says that Samuel Andrews b. 1787 (of Cherry Valley, Ashtabula Co., OH) had 15 children. I have 14 children. Richard also sent from Lucy Ward's diary - July 28th 1903 from Calphurnia Andrews Hopkins. Calphurnia was a daughter of Benoni In this little note, it says - I attended the celebration fifty years ago, a little girl of twelve, and the impression of its greatness has not left me; the speeches; the poem; the dear old people, Uncle Elisha and Aunt Fila, especially impressed me.......... It sounds like Benoni had another brother Elisha (15th child). Is Elisha the Elisha that settled on Hayes Road with Benoni, and William. Could our John be the son of Nehemiah? If John was born abt 1850 he would fit into this family. Here is another possibility................ Samuel bought property in 1821 from Hozea Crandall. Hozea may be Hulda's father. The land was in Ashtabula Co., OH. At the time Samuel was in Chenango Co., NY. One of the owners of the land before Hozea owned it was a Roswell Hotchkiss. There is a Achsah Andrews m. to a Daniel Hotchkiss in 1782 CT. Achsah had a brother John Hodges Andrews b. 1754. I don't have any other info about John Hodges. Achsah and John Hodges had sisters Sarah and Abigail. Coincidence.......................... Also in John's will it says - I give and bequeath to my fourth son James all that part of said premises lying and being in the south end of P premises, south of P before mentioned John A. I thought the abouve was John A. It is possible that it is John H. I assume that his son John is a jr. and they would carry the same middle names. Anyway, I thought I would throw this info out there to see if anyone can make any connections or provide us with more info. Does anyone have an Elisha Andrews and a Fila????? Anything new????? I haven't heard from some of you in an age. I sent to Chenango Co. for land records. Because of the cost, I started with the two years that was most logical to me. No luck. I will have to try again. Sometime back, I had found something (somehow I have lost it) stating that John Andrews was in Greene in 1802. I assume that was Greene, Chenango Co. Does anyone have that and the info that went with it? Sharie Oceanside, CA
