I just checked the site for my ancestor, William Henry Pierson, who was captured at cedar Creek, taken to Salisbury MD and then transferred to Andersonville. The data base doed not have him either. His pension was denied because the union army said he was enlisted in the confederate army to get out of Andersonville b ut all his records indicate he was held in Andersonville the entire period of his captivity until the end of the war. He served with a West Virginia unit and isn't listed in the database. Are there alot of omissions? and before anyone asks, I checked all spellings and only found a William Pearson from TN.
