    3. Mark, My ancestor (Great-Grandfather) Robert Garner also was left out of the Andersonville POW Database. I knew from having his Civil War Pension records that he was a prisoner there, and knew his unit that he was assigned to when captured (also in Tenn.). He was assigned to Company C, 3rd Illinois Volunteer Calvary when captured. I visited the Andersonville Site this last February and purchased the Andersonville CD-ROM with the database on it. He was not listed. I contacted the National Park Service with my question as to why he was not listed, proffered my hypothesis that the ROBERT GANER from the same unit and dates that my ROBERT GARNER had been held prisoner and sent them copies of my documents showing his status as a prisoner in Andersonville and they compared it to the Report of the Adjutant General from the State of Illinois (I am lucky, Illinois has an excellent record system on their veterans) and the record has been corrected. I also notified the publisher of the CD-ROM of the error and they are making the necessary corrections to the database that they offer. Sooo, my question is, Do you have any pension records on your ancestor that shows that he was a POW at Andersonville? If so, then correction of the database should be easily done. Good luck. -- John & Carol Kirkpatrick jpkirkpatrick@geocities.com http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Ranch/1860 ============================================= ANDERSONVILLE-D-request@rootsweb.com wrote: > Subject: > > ANDERSONVILLE-D Digest Volume 99 : Issue 64 > > Today's Topics: > #1 Ohio 45th at Andersonville ["Mark Schilling" <schill@gol.com>] > > Administrivia: > To unsubscribe from ANDERSONVILLE-D, send a message to > > ANDERSONVILLE-D-request@rootsweb.com > > that contains in the body of the message the command > > unsubscribe > > and no other text.
