Merry Anne, If you have the pension records, or the denial of pension based on his supposed enlistment into the Confederate Army (there were a number of Union Soldiers who did enlist into the CSA to leave Andersonville towards the end of the war), then that in and of itself proves that he was a POW at Andersonville. If you have these, copy them and contact the National Park Service at the Andersonville Historic Site and they will address the issue of getting him identified on the rolls. I had a similar problem, though my ancestor had his name transcribed incorrectly (misspelled) and the corrections are underway. As in any collection of records, there will be some omissions, and in the case of the Andersonville Records, they were not complete at the time that the Union became caretakers of them. Even with all the omissions, I believe that the NPS has done a very good job in preserving the history there. If it had not been for a Union POW who worked in the prison morgue (because of his good penmanship), and his keeping a secret record of each and every POW that died there, and correlating those names to the number on the original headboard over the grave, we would not know the names of those buried. Good luck in your quest.
