Thanks for the info on Belle Isle vs. Libby Prison. What about non-commissioned officers? Family tradition said that my ancestor Eugene Dealton Tichenor (some war records show Dalton Fichner), a Wisconsin sergeant, captured at North Anna River in Virginia, died at Libby Prison. I have actually found him at Andersonville, where indeed he died. Where did non-coms go? This is my first week on this list: are archives available to search? -----Original Message----- From: Ron Smith <rsmith0127@uswest.net> To: ANDERSONVILLE-L@rootsweb.com <ANDERSONVILLE-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Friday, March 26, 1999 5:08 AM Subject: Re: ANDERSONVILLE-D Digest V99 #49 >Hi Cherlynn, > > Just wanted to tell you that enlisted prisoners were >sent to Belle Isle prison in Richmond, Va. and the officers >were sent to Libby prison.
