Hi! I've been lurking on this list for quite some time and finally need some info. John Reuben Anderson b 1800, m Lucy Burke 1824 in Scott Co., Virginia. I am descended through their daughter Nancy Anderson who married Marston Clay in Pike County, Kentucky. Does anyone have any info or an inkling of an idea who Reuben's parents were? This man has been impossible to trace. I am told his family is listed in the 1830 census for Washington Co., VA., haven't found it myself yet, and one of his daughters, Mary Ann lists her birth place as Tennessee. She was born about 1833. I have also been told he may been in or around the Gate City area of Scott County. Any help would be greatly appreciated Robin Clay Oliver
Yes it has to have the Anderson name. How do you feel about it.Mary Lou says we already have one volunteer. Jeff and Michelle wrote: > I understand the need for the subject to be Male. I understand the need for the subject to be Male. But does it have to have the Anderson name? Like John Anderson apposed to John Smith. Hi Cousins, A lot of families have been doing DNA testing to determine a definite connection between lines. We have a few lines that we can't find records of proof for. For one......researchers have traced John Anderson to all the same areas as Jacob Anderson and we have the record of Jacob Anderson and Nancy Richardson with John Anderson listed as surety. DNA isn't going to be the record proof that Jacob is the son of John, but it would confirm that the two are related (or unrelated). This would help substantiate that the two are father and son without having the actual record. We have the Daniel Anderson line that we think is also a son of John Anderson. DNA testing would help on this line. We would need male donors from the different lines to see how closely they are related to John Anderson. Several of the other family lines such as Lovetts and Cordells have all ready done their testing and have some results back. If you go to one of your search engines and type in Genetic Genealogy, you will find several sites that discuss this in detail. After reading up on Genetic Genealogy, if you would be interested in supporting the testing and receiving the results of the testing, please email your comments to the list. Once we have DNA results on our line we can test against other Anderson lines to find the ones we are related to. Thanks Sandy
I have been reading up on Genetic Geneaolgy thru Ancestry.com and MSNBC site and it is really interesting!!! As anyone else checked into it? I understand that you can order a kit , scrape the inside of your cheek and send it into a lab and they can tell you if you are related to someone back many years ago. After talking to family researchers in my husbands Anderson line it seems like something we should look into, since we seem to be at a total stand still on proving that Jacob Anderson born 1779 in Va. is related to John Anderson married twice (once to Margret Unknown and there is a question that her name was Margret) and Sarah Pierceful in 1796. If you have already checked into this or would be interested in it, would you please share your feelings with the Anderson Mailing List. If we get enough people interested we might check into it more.Looking forward to all your comments on this one! Thanks Sandy

This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Siler, Anderson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/mYHBAEB/240 Message Board Post: Anyone have any information on a Lee Ota Siler Who married Isaac Marion Anderson in Whitley Co. Kentucky around 1920-1922. They had each been married before and had one daughter. Lee Ota's daughter's name was Lillian and Isaac's daughter's name was Martha. Their marriage (Ike and Lee Ota's produced seven sons and one daughter born between 1922 and 1939 in birth order they were Jessie Luke,Taskel, Mary Magdelene, John, Donald, Croley, Bradley Clarence, and Hiram. I believe they were married in Whiltley County -- that is where they farmed and are buried. But It MAY have been in Jellico Tennessee.
I found this site on what info you can find in the Kentucky Library System. Most of these records seem to be in Frankfort Kentucky .Go to this page and type in any county and it will show you what records the library has.Lots of early records. Maybe it will help someone. http://lcweb.loc.gov/z3950/rlinamc.html
Hello, Someone on this list shared with me some information awhile back on my gg-grandfather, John Head Anderson (b. 1839, perhaps in Tenn.) and my gg-grandmother, Edith Cox (second marriage?). I was wondering if they (or anyone) can provide information on this family again. I am descended through their daughter, Nancy Frances Anderson, who married Albert Ashley Waits and resided in Washington Co., Ark. I know that Nancy had a brother (Mark) and other siblings who lived in the Madison and Washington Co., Ark. area during the late 1800s. Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated.
