My father's name was Frank leon Anderson(deceased),he was from Talbott. He had two sisters Annabell and Grace(both deceased), as so our my Anderson grandparents. My mothers name is Clara Edna Anderson(Knight), also from talbott, she is 86 and the oldest one left in her family. She had two sisters and four brothers, all deceased but the youngest who lives in Greeneville, and her name is Mary Shelton. I got most of my info on Wm. Henry Anderson, and his father John Anderson from a tree that was done for my brother in Fla. about 14 years ago, and its kind of faded. It states that Wm. Henry Anderson was born in1855,and was married to Mary D. Kidwell on Sept. 14th,1882. And his father John was born in 1808, in N.C. His wifes name was Ellender, but it stops there. My grandfather's name was Claude Oakley Anderson, born 1883, and died on Oct 21st 1951. So I think my mother is the oldest living relative I have on either side, but she's still sharp as a tack, so I'll do some more checking with her. I can go back quit a ways on mom's side, but my father and mother devorced when I was 9 and my dad took most of the Anderson pictures and such with him. I do have cousins on the Anderson side that I know and one I occasionally visit when I'm down that way. My great grandmother, Mary D. Kidwell's father's name was Joshua J Kidwell, and he maried a woman named Mariah J. Putney from Ireland, and thats as far as I go on my Anderson side. Not to long I hope, gives you something to read. I can send a picture of my mother if you want . Nice talking to you. Michael L. Hi All, Please send your Anderson queries to Darlene at darburns@aol.com I have a Most Wanted page for the Anderson queries in conjunction with Sandy's Anderson web site. Darlene
My name is Lynda and I too, don't know how to use this. I have subscribed to this for awhile and I've been trying to figure out how to ask my questions. I am related to Henry Clay Anderson born in Arkansas to James Anderson of TN (I think) and M.F (possibly Mary/Margaret Frances) Williams. They lived in Pike County, Arkansas between 1850s-1860s. Possibly died in some kind of epidemic. I have been trying to find James parents or relatives. Mary(?) was the daughter of Green Berry Williams also of TN. --- ANDERSON-KY-NC-TN-VA-D-request@rootsweb.com wrote: > ATTACHMENT part 1 message/rfc822 > > ANDERSON-KY-NC-TN-VA-D Digest Volume 03 : Issue > 18 > > Today's Topics: > #1 [ANDERSON-KNTV] Can anyone help??? My father just emailed me this and I was wondering if anyone can identify which William Anderson it refers to: ******************************************************************************** This is a copy of a one-column, yellowed and smudged, newspaper clipping that I came across in the genealogical information I inherited from my mother. Wesjr/11/26/02. James Anderson has written a poem entitled "Let the Conquered Banner Wave" which he read at a banquet at Petersburg, Va. And which is printed in the March number of the Confederate Veteran, published at Nashville, Tenn., which has drawn the warm approval of the men who fought for the South. It is as follows -- Why furl it and fold it and put it away, The banner that proudly waved over the gray? It has not a blemish, it shows not a stain, Though it waved over fields where thousands were slain O, why should we furl it and put it away? It's loved and respected by the blue and the gray. They fought for a cause they thought was just, And this banner they loved was trailed in the dust. Their fight was lost and their hopes are dead, And another flag waves proud o'er their head; But still in their memory, without boast or brag, Wound around their hearts is this bonnie blue flag. So unfurl that banner; don't lay it away, There is but one country---it's both blue and gray--- Just one united land for us all, Each willing and ready to answer the call; But no land on earth, no history can say That braver men lived than those of the gray. Don't furl it and fold it and put it away. Let our sons and daughters gaze on it and say: "âEUR~Twill live on forever in story and song Brave men fought for it; they may have been wrong; But they fought for it gladly, heroes and brave, And the bonnie blue flag waves over their grave." So unfurl the old banner; let it float in the air; Let all the old veterans salute it up there, And they loved their old banner so bonnie and blue. Now here's to old Dixie, the land of the brave; "All hail to the bonnie blue flag; let it wave!" Note added by wesjr, 11-26-02. I have not located a James Anderson in the papers my mother left to me. That doesn't mean he is not in there but I have not located him. ******************************************************************************* Any info would be appreciated! Thanks! - Kim Sweeney
