This is my first post here. Seeking information and cousins descended from the family of John Anderson. John was born in Ireland (probably Northern Ireland) in 1774. He was in KY in 1806 when a son, William, was born in Mason County, KY. John moved to Clermont County, OH where he died in 1839. He was married to Martha ....? Together, they had four girls and three boys. I wonder if anyone on the list sees a connection? I would love to find some more Anderson cousins. This family, John Anderson and his descendants lived colorful, active lives and were pioneers in every way. They were devout Presbyterians, staunch Unionists, very much anti-slavery. Hoping for an answer. Phil Andrew

Hello Darlene, didn't know you were the list manager, I tried to send an introduction to our Anderson DNA project to the list and it got bounced back. I tried a test note and it got bounced back. and it has been near three weeks since I sent in my subscribe note (again) and I have not seen one message on the list. Oh, I got kicked off the list about a year ago because all the mail from the list was getting kicked back to them. Thanks for your concern, This request for information got through so maybe it was my virus program. Hello, I am the list manger for the Anderson-KNTV mail list. Herb -- there are no messages from you bouncing back to me regarding the mail list. If Rootsweb thought your emails were spam they would bounce and I would receive a message accordingly. Have you contacted your server provider? Maybe they can help you. I just got this from Jack Goins and he said I could share it with this list. Penny Ferguson Sent: Friday, August 29, 2003 07:40 PM Subject: Eli Anderson The Hancock County Microfilms are back but they have no reader, so you have to use Family History Center. I ordered the microfilm Index from the Family History Center and a friend then read this court: case. #41 Sarah Anderson (Admr) vs Patton Anderson et. all, 1868 estate case number 433. Sarah was adminstatrix of Harvey Andersons estate which consisted of two shares in the undivided estate of Harvey's father Eli Anderson, decd. The court appointed Zachariah Minor Guardian of all the children Patton, Mary, Nancy Clementine and Elizabeth Anderson. Sarah's attorney was Lewis Jarvis he got $25, they ask the court to sell the land and ask for a dower part for Sarah and the court granted her $100.00 from this sell, so she didn't get anything after paying the cost, this left Zachariah as guardian $310.00 Carter Anderson purchased the land for $410.00. Said two interest are one fourth of the land of Eli Anderson desd. lying in the 12th civil district of Hancock County adjoini! ng the lands of William Baker Sr and John Baker and others. We have two Eli Anderson's in this district, but from this land identification I think it was the Eli living next door to John Baker in 1850. There is no doubt about this, Eli Anderson deceased is named in this case twice as the father of Harvey Anderson desceased 33rd Subdivision 26 Nov 1850. HH # 306 John Baker 35 HH#307, Ely Anderson 45, wife Nancy 40, both b Va. children, Stephen 20, (dumb) Mary 17 Margaret 14, Elizabeth 12 Jessee 9, Susannah 6, Carter 4, Ellen 1 Harvey got 2 shares and I'm sure it said from the Will of Eli Anderson, he probably gave it to the four boys, but Stephen is listed dumb. There is room for another child between Mary and Margaret and I bet the census taker left him out. If the above Carter 4 was the Carter who bought the land he was 22 years old when the land sold in 1868. Here is the other Eli Anderson, and I will list his next door neighbors first 33rd subdivision 1850 Hancock .. #259-Michael Johnson #260-Jessee Manis #261-Peter Liversy #262- Wahing Liversy #263- Steve Delp #264- Eli Anderson 43, born VA, Elizbeth 40, b VA., all the children were born in TN/ Emily 20, Jane 18, Clabourn 16, Manesvey 14, Sealey 12, Melvina 10, Maryann 8, Esley 3, and Clabourn are the only two male's and notice the two year seperation between the children starting with Maryann and continues to the oldest Emily. There is no room for Harvey in this family. #265- Jacob Anderson 74, wife Lydia 53, Peter 17, Thomas 14. #266- John Absher 38 #267- Thomas Anderson 66, Elizabeth 64, Thomas 24, Timothy 22, Susanna 20 #269- is my g,g, great grandparents Isiah Going 55 #270- My ggg Zachariah Minor and Aggy Sizemore parents of Sarah who married Harvie Anderson. Hello Anderson Group, We have started an Anderson surname DNA project in hope of finding (or correcting) relationships to other Anderson families. Since you have done research back to your family roots, as best you can, you would be of tremendous help to others who are trying to find their ancestors. We need DNA participants from all Anderson lines, like yours, so the results can be compared to samples from other lines in hope of finding unknown (or proving) connections. So far we have had seven DNA testers that represent four different Anderson lines. In doing these seven test, we have helped two groups to redirect their research. In both cases the Anderson groups were researching connections to Anderson lines that DNA testing proved them not to be connected to, and in one of these cases we were able to connect the Anderson group to the correct Anderson line. They were both great finds. We are using Family Tree DNA to perform the DNA test. They have a webpage at: http://www.familytreedna.com/, and this is where you would go to join our group. Participants must be living males with the Anderson surname. The test kit cost $99.00 and the sampling process consist of gently swabbing the inside of the cheek, and sending that sample swab to Family Tree DNA for testing. Please check out our Anderson DNA web page at: www.geocities.com/herb194/AndersonDNA.html Herbert L. Anderson Anderson Family DNA Project Administrator handers@chartertn.net

Looking for any info on my gggrandfather James Anderson, born 1806, in Kentucky (birth year taken from 1850 census). James married a Nancy McAnally/McAnelly and lived most of his life in Casey and Marion counties. I have tentatively linked him with a William A. Anderson, b 1765 in KY. A DAR bible record lists William A. Anderson's family and he had a son James, born in Apr 1806. This record is apparently from Washington county, generally the same area (I believe Casey and Marion both were formed from Washington county?). Don't know if this is James' true father or not. Not much else to go on. Any info/links appreciated.
Below you will find a recent update on the Anderson DNA test results. There are now two matches. The John Anderson match was a total surprise to Jim and Lonnie. After Jim gave me more information on this John Anderson, I found him in my records and knew that we were not related. This John Anderson line is tested out as Western European and is thought to of come from Perth, Scotland to the USA. The Jacob Anderson match was anticipated by the three researchers. They had previously thought that they related to the above John Anderson but DNA test proved that wrong. This Jacob Anderson line tested out to be of Nordic descent from one of the Scandinavian countries of the world. We have no match for the below James Anderson born about 1665. I am asking other Andersons in other identified Anderson lines to be tested so that we can confirm that we share the below James Anderson born about 1665. Those of us who share the ancestor, James Anderson, born about 1759-60 in NC on the Tar River and who was the Revolutionary War pensioner In Jefferson County, TN in 1833 should not need DNA testing unless you just want to be sure you match my DNA. I think our records are very accurate on this Anderson line. I find this new research tool exciting.
