Hello. I hope this finds you and your family in good health. My name is Susan and I along with my sister, are trying to trace my great grandmother Catherine Anderson, who married a D.R. Robertson in Kiowa IT Oklahoma. All we know is that she was from Scott County Tennessee according to Divorce papers we found. According to her marriage certificate she was 24 which subtracted from the marriage date has her born in 1882. Also according to the divorce papers she had three children with D.R. Robertson. Their names are Alvin born approximately 1905-6, My grandmother Bertie born 1907-1973 in Oklahoma, and Elise or Elsie born in 1910-11 in Dow Oklahoma. The baby was 11 months old at the time of the Divorce. According to the Divorce papers she had a brother and sister living in Dow Oklahoma at the time. No names for them are mentioned. The 1910 Dow Oklahoma Census has numerous Anderson's living in the area. But Catherine is not listed on it nor the boy Alvin or the baby. We do know that D.R. Robertson kept my grandmother and sent Catherine back to Tennessee with the other two children. The divorce in 1910- 1913 never was finished. D.R. who was actually David Robertson did divorce Catherine on grounds of desertion in 1920. Catherine never showed up to protest the divorce. Okay, now we get to the reason for this email. I found your homepage while looking up Kizzie Anderson. There was an email sent to you from a Jeff or Barbara Rich on 3/22/2001. Kizzie is related to Sterling Anderson who is the son of Timothy and Keziah Anderson. Timothy and Keziah had five children as of the 1900 Scott county Tennessee Census. James F who married Palmira had two children Wesley D. and Walter W. Sterling who married Marlena had 7 children. George B, Mary L, and Catherine born in June 1882. I am trying to find out if this is the same Catherine I am searching for. I have nothing more to go on. We would love to know what happened to Catherine, Alvin, and the baby. Our Catherine would have been 28-29 in 1910. She may have gone back to the Anderson maiden name or remarried. My sister and uncle think she may have returned to Oklahoma to be near my grandmother but we haven't been able to trace her. Would you have an email address for Jeff and Barbara Rich, or have any more info on Timothy Anderson's children particularly Catherine? Thanks for your time. Susan Kute70@cox.net
I'm looking for information on a man named Jesse Anderson who was possibly born in VA in 1775. The date is correct, but we're not sure of the state. He later moved to Prince George's Co., MD where he started a large family. Please contact me if you recognize his name. Thanks. lsgray@starpower.net
I just have a Jesse Anderson born in 1775 in Virginia. He could be related to your Anderson's from VA. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kay Sakaris" <ksakaris@hal-pc.org> To: <ANDERSON-KY-NC-TN-VA-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, November 05, 2003 10:20 AM Subject: [ANDERSON-KNTV] Samuel Anderson of Wilkes Co., NC > Seeking information about the parents, siblings of Samuel Anderson of > Wilkes Co., NC. John D. DAVIS, Ireland>N.Y.>TN, b.1798, wagon train to TN 1810, m. schoolteacher Elisabeth ANDERSON 1820. Family tradition says Knoxville, TN. Can't find anything to support that. Anyone have an Elisabeth ANDERSON who fits that time/occupation?
Hi Darlene, How many different Anderson families do you think lived in Grayson Co., VA before 1830? Thanks, Mary Lou
Hello List (from Herb Anderson and Darlene Anderson), Herb and I have written two parts regarding the DNA results and the families we are researching, so please read on after Herb's part of the email: The Anderson DNA Project has made another family connection of interest to us all. New results are in on the test of John and Jene Anderson (that thought that they were descended from the same line of Andersons but had never found any proof). By doing the DNA test they have come a lot closer to proving that they are in the same family of Andersons because their 12 Marker test came out to be an exact match. Even though this only insures them that they have a common ancestor sometime in the last 2500 years, this is a great indicator that they are correct in their assumptions on their family connection. They are now considering whether to do the 25 marker test, which would give them proof of closer relation if they get a match with the 25 marker results. At the same time their 12 marker test results got a 12 marker match to another Anderson tester. Their 12 marker results matched that of Jerry Anderson's 12 marker results. This is a great find for them and for Jerry in that it has connected each of them to another Anderson group that they were not previously connected to. These three families are now conferring together to see if they can merge their research project information to see how they might connect. I wish them the best of luck in their future searching's. This is the third family connection that we have made so far in our Family DNA Project since our beginnings in April of this year. It is a great tool and is something you should all consider doing. Check us out at familytreedna.com under the Anderson surname DNA Project. Herb Herbert Lee Anderson The Anderson Family DNA Project Administrator John Mahlon Anderson and Jene Anderson finally know without a doubt they are cousins! We now know they have a common Anderson ancestor somewhere "out there" and we want to find that Anderson person. The added bonus to the DNA testing is we found another cousin we knew nothing about ... Jerry Anderson. For some history on our Anderson research: John and I have researched the Anderson's from Grayson County, VA for about 15 years. John has his family documented back 8 generations (John correct me if I'm wrong) and I have documented Jene's line back 7 generations. According to the Grayson County, VA records the Anderson's were witnesses, lived next door to each other, sold land to one another and we still could not document on paper the exact relationship between John's line and Jene's line. Jene's Anderson line goes like this: William Anderson, b. c. 1768, m. Catherine "Caty" Walling/Wallen Stephen Anderson, b. 1802, m. Sarah Perkins. Stephen died in 1834. The story goes that "he died along the way", presumably to Hawkins Co TN. Sarah Perkins Anderson was in Hawkins Co TN when the 1850 census was taken living with Swimpfield Anderson. No marriage record between Swimpfield Anderson and Sarah Perkins Anderson has been found. Mauccoy L. Anderson, b. 1826, m. Johanna Johnson/Johnston in Perry County, KY. Orville Anderson, b. 1855/1856 Perry County KY m. Sarah Eversole presumable in Perry County KY however no marriage record has been found. Joseph Anderson m. Susan Mae Adams Wathen Anderson m. Reta Haselwander Jene Anderson m. Darlene Burns The relationship between Swimpfield Anderson and the Anderson's of Grayson County, VA is not known. We would like to correspond with any other Anderson's who are related to the Grayson County, VA Anderson family. Jene's Anderson line traveled from Grayson Co VA to Hawkins Co VA to Perry County KY to Laurel Co KY and from there to Indiana. Some of John's line also traveled to other states. If you are and Anderson from these areas please contact us. Someone may be holding the key to how the Anderson's are related from Grayson Co VA area. John, Jerry and Jene are planning to meet each other soon. Are you a cousin? Maybe you would like to join us. Let me know if you're interested. Thanks, Jene and Darlene Anderson

Pat, We might have something here. I have John Anderson's children as: Hiram C. (b 1794-1802[1830 census]), Thomas W., Margaret, William b 21 May 1806, Amelia, Eliza, and strangely enough, Margaret again. One of these Margarets must be wrong. I will do some checking on that one. The interesting part is that John's wife, the mother of all these children was named Martha. Mary, Right off, I don't see a connection. My William was born in 1806, but I do not have an Andrew. John's progeny were Hiram C., Thomas W., Margaret, William, Amelia, Eliza, Margaret. One of these Margarets must, surely be wrong, but I am dependent upon the notes compiled by two Anderson cousins, and I don't know their sources. If Andrew were William's sibling, he would have given his father's birthplace as Ireland in the 1880 census. Glynda, My Anderson family didn't get to Oklahoma Territory until the run on the Cherokee Strip in 1893, and they came in from the south side...near El Reno, to be exact. My Grandfather, Hyman Hermance Anderson, was the 11th person to file a claim in the new town of Enid, OT. As I said in a recent post, I have not one John Anderson, that I know of, since John, b 1774, Ireland, my ggggf. Wish I could be of more help. Sounds like Johnny was a real Sooner! Seeking information and cousins descended from the family of John Anderson. John was born in Ireland (probably Northern Ireland) in 1774. He was in KY in 1806 when a son, William, was born in Mason County, KY. John moved to Clermont County, OH where he died in 1839. He was married to Martha ....? Together, they had four girls and three boys. I wonder if anyone on the list sees a connection? I would love to find some more Anderson cousins. This family, John Anderson and his descendants lived colorful, active lives and were pioneers in every way. They were devout Presbyterians, staunch Unionists, very much anti-slavery. Thanks for the reply,Phil. Hopefully someone else on the list may have some info. Martha Martha, Thanks for your reply. I don't have another John Anderson, only the immigrant, who was born in Ireland. Would you believe? I do not have a single child named John, right down to the present! Of course, I do not have a complete list of all the descendants. Cheers, Phil Andrew
Phil, do you know the names of his siblings and his mother's maiden surname? William is in the age range of my great-great grandfather--Andrew ANDERSON--who was born in KY (county unknown) in 1808, but my great-great grandmother (his wife--Nancy HARROLL, HERRALL, HEROD, etc.) was born in Union County KY. Andrew's father was born in VA, but his mother was born in TN. Andrew and Nancy lived out their lives in Shelby Co., IL. Back that early, any of the States they claim they were in is anybody's guess because the boundaries moved a lot. Anyhow, thanks for posting, and let me know if anything sounds familiar! Thanks.
