    3. I interested in information on the family of Richard Anderson, who received a State of North Carolina land grant for 2200 acres in Smith Co., TN on 15 Sep 1787. I am trying to determine whether he might be the father of my Philip Anderson, who married Polly McNatt on 24 Feb 1806 in neighboring Wilson Co., TN. 1. [ANDERSON-KNTV] Anderson KNTV Web Site
    2. Hello, The new place for the Anderson KNTV web site is located at http://www.mdagenealogy.com/anderson/index.html Please change your bookmarks from the "old" web site to the "new" web site address. I am beginning to move files from the old location to the new location. Some of the files on the "old" web site are no longer functional and this will be the case until the information has been transferred to the new site. This will continue to be an on-going process for the next few weeks so if you come across any links on the "new" web site that aren't functioning properly please email me with the web site address. Some of you have sent your direct Anderson lineage to the list. This will be an added feature of the web site. As an example my husband's lineage is: Stephen Anderson and Sarah Perkins Mauccoy L. Anderson and Joanna Johnson/Johnston Orville Anderson and Sarah Eversole Joseph Anderson and Susan Adams Wathen Anderson and Reta Hazelwander Jene Anderson and Darlene Burns Also includes dates and places for each indivudual. The exception to this is .... do not send information for living individuals. Please note a living individual as Living. If you have any questions please let me know. Darlene Anderson

    3. I would like to re-introduce my KY Anderson. I am seeking info about John Anderson, my ggggf, who appears in Mason County, KY where his son William was born. He then moved across the state line to Brown Co, OH. He is buried in Clermont Co,OH having died in 1839. In censuses from 1850, William states that his father was foreign born. In the 1880 census, he says his father was born in Ireland. Given the intense association with the Presbyterian church and the Union cause in 1861 connected with William, I must assume that John was born in Ulster. John married Martha Wood(?). She was born in PA and died, and is buried beside John in Clermont Co, OH. Perhaps we can find a connection. I would be most gratified to find a cousin, or two. BTW, John had other sons and daughters. 1. [ANDERSON-KNTV] RESEARCHING JOHN ANDERSON B 1816 OHIO
    2. Hello, I am Alyce Hart and am a direct descendant of a John Blackman Anderson b ca 1816 in southern Ohio. We believe his parental units to be Matthew Anderson b ca 1798, cencus records est birthplace as Va but we do know the family was in Kentucky for some time. I am writing this from the office so will substantiate this with additional records if anyone has an interest. This family moved on towards Indiana thence to Missouri. My great grandafther Oregon Anderson was the s/o John Blackman Anderson and Kesiah Little. He had at least 4 wives and some think perhaps he had five. With each wife's passing he returned to his home state of Indiana to procure another bride. When it came time for him to decide what side of the war between the states he was on; he decided against the rpevailing current of the area in which he was residing (about 90 miles north of St Louis,Mo) and returned to Indiana to fight with a regiment raised for the NORTH. I really wish to know more about John Blackman Anderson and his father, Matthew Anderson and 10 + years of research has gotten me no closer to the prize. I am happy to share and compare with anyone on this family, though i must admit it is not my primary research vehichle at the moment. regards ALyce Hart

    1. [ANDERSON-KNTV] Introductions- Anderson's in KY
    2. Christine Chambers
    3. Hello, My name is Chris Chambers and I have been looking for my Anderson family in Christian and/or Logan Co since 1966. I have James ANDERSON who married Nancy IRVIN. I descend from their daughter, Mary ANDERSON, born 1777 and died 1864 in Logan Co. Mary ANDERSON was married to Robert COURSEY. I have a Rev. War Pension Application for a James ANDERSON, but am not positive it is mine since there is no wife or children named in the application. Also, it has a letter included that seems to indicate that he is not mine. If anyone connects to this family, I would certainly appreciate hearing from you. Chris

    1. [ANDERSON-KNTV] Response to Patrick's - Anderson Genealogy and the web
    2. Please scroll down the page to read my comments. In a message dated 2/13/2004 6:10:07 PM Central Standard Time, PatAnder73@aol.com writes: Darlene and fellow listees, I thought i would follow Darlenes lead and introduce myself. I am Patrick Joseph Anderson. I have been doing genealogy since 1973 and I bought my first IBM-XT in 1983 and began putting genealogy info in it and believe it or not, I still have folders on my computer today that have piggy backed along puter to puter until I get a laugh out of opening some of the old files and my puter argues with me about what the file extensions should be and what program originated them? I have had several web sites going since 1998. Colonial Virginia ANDERSON Families is probably the one that most of you have found by now. I am the manager of 7 of these email lists including ANDERSON-L@rootsweb.com and was the manager of the defunct list that proceeded it at Indiana Univ. Being first to grab it I am the holder of the homepages.rootsweb.com/~anderson workspace for web stuff. I ain't dead yet - but since I have seen many many contacts I have made in the last decade pass away, I am always left wondering what happens to their research materials and notes and old web sites. Does anyone on the list know if somebody has started a repository where a person could instruct their survivors to ship all their "stuff" to? I haven't heard of anyone doing this. I think it would be a very good idea to have such a repository for the Anderson surname. I have thought of doing this from time to time. My thinking is that an association could be formed which would include a group of officers, web site committee, repository committee and so on. We could have a membership fee or not, a yearly reunion and annual meeting, newsletter or not plus the website. There are several ways we could go about doing this. Of course, some of this would have to be paid for and so that is why I was thinking of the membership fee for the association. I don't know how much interest there is for an Anderson Association but would be willing to check into it if anyone is interested. For instance I have a magazine holder box full of records associated with the Reynard Anderson family of South Side Virginia. This is not actually my family but it is the supporting documentation for the information I have posted on the web site above. I often look at it and think that it would be good if I could get it into the hands of someone who would care enough to want it, preserve it, and share it. I also have built the GEDCOM and Website of Colonial Virginia Anderson families that I would like to see preserved in such a fashion that some editor/contributor willing to want it, preserve it and share it could take control of it and continue to add to and correct the data therein. Periodically I think of trying to find someone who might want to replace me as manager of the ANDERSON list. I would welcome comments and advice about how to create the circumstances that these assets would pass into someones control that would want them, preserve them and continue to share them. Patrick, I would be interested in talking with you about the Anderson mail list and the web site on Rootsweb. My idea for the Anderson-KY-NC-TN-VA web site is to create pages of information for Anderson deeds, census, wills and so on. Some of the information would be transcribed records, some of it would be indexes of wills, deeds and so on giving the source name and where the information can be obtained if a researcher is interested in obtaining a copy to document their Anderson research. There are also many genealogy files on the web site. This information would not only cover KY,NC,TN,VA but other states as well. Just going through the information that Sandy has placed online there is already information available for other states, not a lot though. I would like to see some feedback on the possibility of creating an Anderson association. What are your ideas and suggestions? This type of thing can not be accomplished by one or two or three people even. It takes a group of people interested in preserving Anderson history and genealogy to do this. My vote is we form a small group of individuals willing to look into the possibility of creating an association and how we would go about doing it. Anyone interested? Darlene Patrick J.
