    1. Re: [ANDERSON-KNTV] Re: DNA - VA Anderson's
    2. My family seems to be one of the few who stayed in Virginia. My father was Thomas Roland Anderson. My Grandfather was Peyton Henry Lee Anderson his father was Thomas Henry Allen Anderson son of Rowland (Roland) Anderson. He was the son of Larkin Anderson of Prince Edward and I believe that Larkin was the son of Captain Charles Anderson also of Prince Edward County. My Grandfather was convinced they were of Scottish origin. I would be interested in hearing from anyone with connections to these folks. We have established a connection to the Hines family and McGeHees. My brother is going to do the DNA testing but so far there doesn't seem to be anyone with these lines. Anne Anderson Turnbull

    1. RE: Reply to Swimpfield Anderson and Moses Anderson
    2. Hi Roger, I am interested in your connection to the Swimpfield Anderson of Hawkins County TN and Moses Anderson of Wayne County KY. Let me do some digging today and tomorrow so that I can answer you about Swimpfield of Hawkins. If the "appearances" of Moses and Swimpfield relationship as brothers can be documented this would be a very big deal for Anderson researchers in this area of TN, in my humble opinion. I know that it would be for me as it adds so many more clues to the Hawkins Co Anderson's ... Swimpfield's line anyway. Is anyone else researching Swimpfield of Hawkins County? Darlene In a message dated 4/24/2004 8:59:46 AM Central Daylight Time, andrsnr@cfl.rr.com writes: Darlene, It 'appears' that Moses (Wayne Co. KY) and Swimpfield (Hawkins Co. TN) may have been brothers. Moses' oldest daughter Nancy was born in Hawkins Co. in 1798. Moses is listed on a head right claim in Wayne for 1800, so they may have lived in Hawkins Co. prior to moving to KY. The fact that Moses also named a son Swimpfield (an odd name) adds credence to this speculation. Swimpfield (TN) also named one of his sons Moses. Roger

    2. Hi ! My Anderson Lineage all stems from Whitley Co. Ky. Through DNA testing we have proved that we are related to the Revolutionary John Anderson. At this point in time, however, how we are related is uncertain. It is my belief that we are related through Robert Anderson who I believe is John's son. Here is our line: John Anderson (Unproven) Robert Anderson/Keziah Sneed (married in Whitley Co. 1831) Henry Anderson/Rebecca Calvin Anderson/Manila Mowery (d/o Jonathan Mowery/Nancy Hamblin) Montgomery Anderson/Flora Belle Young (d/o T.J. Young/Cyntha Hamblin) Nola Anderson ME If anyone else is researching this line of Anderson's please contact me. Thanks, Della Perez com> wrote: Darlene, It 'appears' that Moses (Wayne Co. 1. Hiram Anderson and Nancy McCallilster
    2. Mary Lou Hudson
    3. Does anyone descend from Hiram Anderson? Pulaski Co., KY marriage records list Hiram Anderson's marriage to Nancy McCallister on October 31, 1811. This could possibly be a brother to Jacob (b. 1779). (Ref: Pulaski Co., KY Marriage Records 1798-1851.) Jacob and Barthena named a son Hiram. The son (Hiram) died at the age of 19 in Whitley Co., KY. (Ref: Whitley Co., KY Death Records.) The Hiram Anderson who married Nancy Mccallister disappears from Pulaski Co., KY and is possibly the Hyram Anderson listed in the 1820 census for Davidson Co., TN. Thanks, Mary Lou Hudson

    1. Re: [ANDERSON-KNTV] Re: DNA - Reply Grayson County VA Anderson's
    2. Thomas Anderson married Celia Haga (no second H) in 1842, a relative on my Haga side of the family. That line of Andersons is being studied by one in our research group in SC. Harvey Anderson signed the marriage certificate of Thomas as the bondsman. Harvey Anderson's name is misspelled as "Anders" in the NC Genealogy Archives on the microfiche due to a clerical error. I've seen the original document that has his name spelled correctly and can verify by the (i believe) marriage license on file from the 1800's. I can recheck if someone needs verification. I live about 25 minutes away from the Archives. In the original, his signature is plain but slightly covered by the seal, hence the clerical The line I've queried about here with no luck has been James Anderson of Grayson County. He was married to Polly or Mary Bonham, and had two sons, John R. Anderson and Eli. Our line comes through John R., then James Floyd Anderson, then Edward Napoleon Anderson to my grandmother, Millie Anderson Haga. Any connection along the way would help. I believe James would have been born around 1802, died 1854 or 1856 when a tree fell on him. There was some debate that he was related Swinfield or Swimpfield Anderson, but our research tends to refute this. Also, my grandmother's siblings include Lawrence, Sherwood, Otho (sp?), Dorothy, Kathleen, and Nellie Anderson. We have also tried to follow up on James' other son Eli. He married Sarah Ann in the 1800's and may have moved to Ohio near the W. Va. line. Any help would be greatly appreciated Tim

    2. Hi Roger, Do you know if you have any connection to the Swimpfield Anderson of Hawkins County, TN? Swimpfield married Elizabeth Sullivan and then married Sarah Perkins Anderson after Stephen Anderson died. I have also seen where the Swimpfield of Hawkins County was related to Peter of Bedford County but I have found no evidence to support this. 1. What is your Anderson Lineage?
    2. Hello, We've had 20 people participate in the DNA Project and there are 137 people on the mail list. DNA has provided us (meaning John Anderson and Jene and I and Jerry and now Keith) with information to continue to research our Anderson family and know for sure our Anderson lineage is Swedish. Family stories from one generation to the other had been passed down that John and Jene's Anderson's were Swedish but we haven't been able to document and prove that until the recent DNA Study by Keith Anderson. If you don't prefer to participate in the DNA Study would you tell us about your Anderson lineage? And if you prefer to participate DNA Study would you tell us about your Anderson lineage anyway? This can only help us in knowing where we all come from Anderson speaking of course. Thanks, Darlene

    1. DNA
    2. Hello again, My husband is part of group #6 on the DNA Study web page at http://www.geocities.com/herb194/AndersonDNA.html Of that group we have had 6 matches. John Mahlon Anderson, Jr. and Jene Anderson have done the 25 marker test and were exact matches 25 out of 25 markers. Jerry Anderson has done the 12 marker and matched perfectly with John and Jene. Jerry has upgraded his tests to the 25 marker but so far hasn't received the results. We've also had two others that have matched perfectly however their last names are not Anderson's. Brian Keith Anderson participated in the DNA study 25 marker test and John and Jene matched 23/25 with him. Keith's line goes back to the Swedish Anderson's that came into the NJ area in the 1600's. At this point, we do not know who the common ancestor is but you can be sure that John and I are searching for information to document from our last known Anderson ancestor to Keith's common ancestor. Jene's line goes back to William Anderson, b. 1770 and Katherine Walling, b. 1777. They lived in Grayson County VA. John's line goes back to Thomas Anderson, b. ca 1785 and Sarah _______. They also lived in Grayson County, VA. If any of you are part of the Grayson County VA Anderson's please contact me. We would love to correspond with you! Darlene

    1. Update
    2. Hello, We have moved and everything is almost unpacked! So I thought I would check the website to see if links were working properly, see how many "hits" we've had and so on. I realized that some of the links of the main page were not working properly. So I have a request ... if you check the web site and find that a link isn't working properly please let me know. A simple error can mean the difference between viewing a web site and getting an "object not found" message on the screen. More to come in the next email to the list .... Darlene
