I've noticed at lot of discussion of county names involving Virginia and West Virginia. I am not aware of all the details, but I know from correspondence in other groups that a number of counties in what is now West Virginia were renamed (possibly when it split off from Virginia?). It may be worthwhile for those doing research in this area to look up historical maps of these states showing their counties at various points in time. Regards, Charles J. (Charlie) Jefferson
