    3. Judy, Sorry to have taken so long to reply, Yes that is a coencidence ,Could your martha's father been John Nelson Anderson,My records show that that was the father of Robert Peter Anderson,I have not been able to check this out for sure, R.P. had a brother LewisWhose family lived around Loisville Ky. when Russell Co KY. celebrated theirCentenial in the 1970s as they sent a Letter that R.P. had wrote to his son about his civil war experiences. ther was at least one more brother, but I never knew of Sisters, there could have been.John Nelson would have been a brother to Wm. Riley and Asbury.I have Robert Peter born6-18-1841 in wayne Co Ky. You might check the 1840 cencus for wayne Co for your Martha if the have one. I have listed this several times with no success but this time it seems to make more sense - to me anyway! > > My great grandmother was Martha J. Anderson b.ca 1834-1837 KY. She married George W. CRANE in 1853 in Greene Co., IN. Prior to this marriage, Martha is nowhere to be found. Martha and George named one son, John Asbury CRANE - George's father's name was John but where did they get Asbury? They are also believed to have had a son named William E. CRANE who died in 1866. > > I was told that a woman who researched this Anderson line many years ago said that Martha's father's name was Nelson Anderson. As I found an Ezekiel Anderson who came to Greene Co., IN from KY about the same time she showed up, I have always felt he was her father. This Ezekiel had a son named Nelson so I assumed that she had somehow made an error as this Nelson was born ca 1832. Ezekiel's parents were James Anderson and Elizabeth E. JONES. They also had a son named Riley Franklin Anderson. Both the names Riley and Franklin were common in the descendants of James Anderson and Elizabeth JONES. My grandfather's name was Thomas Franklin CRANE. I have always felt that he is somehow tied into this Anderson family. > > Between 1872 and 1875, my ggrandparents, Martha ANDERSON and George Crane moved their family to IL. Son, Horace Edgar CRANE was born in Windsor, IL August 25, 1875. The family was back in Greene Co., IN by the 1880 census. Why did they move to IL? > > Another son's name that I feel was unusual was George Hannigan CRANE. I have even looked at the possibility of Martha's mother being a HANNIGAN but have not been able to locate anything. > > Something else that has always seemed to mean something to me. Martha begged my grandfather (her son) not to join up for the war as she said she would not live to see him return so he did not join. Unfortunately, my history's not too good so I'm not sure which war it was but she died in 1898 before the war ended. Please let me know if any of this rings a bell. I've been looking off and on for over 20 years and this brick wall seems impossible to break through.
