I have been looking for over 30 years for data re parents, birth, location, etc., concerning a HIRAM KING ANDERSON, my gr-gr-grandfather. A Bible in our family states only that he was born in 1787 and gives his second known marriage (to a Susan Harrup, in 1828 in Madison Co, TN). Family oral tradition says he was born in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, but we have no corroborating info on that. Other info states that Spartanburg Co was formed--along with five other counties--out of "District 96." The first firm data we have is his first marriage in Davidson Co, TN, in 1818 to a Susan Newsom, by whom he had two daughters. There follows info in the Third U.S. Census for Tennessee, of 1820, listing for Davidson Co, TN--"Outside Nashville". There Hiram is grouped first with two other Andersons: William E. and Solomon. We surmise, from their age listings, that William E. may be their father. We know that Solomon married Elizabeth Newsom, sister to Hiram's first wife, Susan. We next know that Susan died before 1828, when Hiram remarried (to Susan Harrup). Family-wise, we have learned from other people that Hiram also had another brother James, whose descendants lived in southern Davidson Co and in Williamson Co, TN, and that there was a younger sister Hannah. Could this Hiram who married Nancy McCallister, cited above, have been the same as my ancestor? Data on Hiram has been so very elusive prior to his second marriage. I would be so very glad to exchange later data on Hiram and his descendants. I apologize for such a rambling msg and I thank all for their consideration. Happy holidays! For each of you, may the best of 2000 be better than the best of 1999!!! B. A. Parham
