    3. Searching for roots and German descendants of Wihelm Heinrich SCHROEDER and his wife Dorothea SEIKAT or SEKATE. Wilhelm Heinrich SCHROEDER, shoemaker, was born 1862 in Germany, (obituary, prepared by son, indicates born in Sachsen), and died in 1931 in Preston, Ontario, Canada. He was married to Dorothea SEIKAT, born in 1853 in Germany, died in 1923 in Preston, Ontario, Canada. They had children born in Bramstedt, Holstein in 1880’s and emigrated to Canada from Bramstedt about 1912. Heinrich and Dorothea had two sons (Jochim Markus Wilhem, b 1886 in Bramstedt, and August Heinrich, b 1887 in Bramstedt) and probably one daughter, name and birthdate unknown. Wilhelm, was married in 1909 to Elly Anna Johanna EGGERT, in the Evangelistic Lutheran Church in Segeberg, Holstein. Wilhelm was shown as a journeyman Blacksmith, resident in Hamburg-Eisbuttel, and Elly as a farmworker/milkmaid, resident in Fahrenkrug. Elly was b in 1889 in Rehna, Mecklenb-Schwerin, the daughter of Joachim Heinrich Ernst EGGERT, a baker, and Maria Katharina Angel Elisabeth DUMMANN. August emigrated to Preston, Ontario, Canada in 1912, with a group from Bramstedt including members of the family Herman and Emilie HOLM and Frederick and Matilda SCHROEDER. August’s brother Wilhelm followed in 1913, accompanied by his wife and two infant sons. Their parents Heinrich and Dorothea came to Canada in either 1912 or 1913. It is believed that one sister remained in Germany. Contact was maintained up to 1939 but was not reestablished after the war. The sister’s first name is not known but it is understood that she married a jeweller named ANDERSON and that they had a daughter named Betti and a son Ernst August. Pictures of the children indicate that Betti may have been born 1925-1930 and Ernst August 3 to 4 years later. There may have been at least one more child. A studio picture of the children was taken in Wesselburen, Holst, which may have been their home. We would appreciate any information or leads regarding the above persons and families.
