I had been unable to find very little information about my gr-grandmother's 5 brothers from Darwin, IL. On another of my mailing lists, someone reposted the web site for The American Civil War Homepage The American Civil War Homepage (http://sunsite.utk.edu/civil-war/warweb.html#rosters). After clicking on Rosters & Regimental Histories, then USA National & States A-I, I found the address for All Illinois units (http://www.outfitters.com/illinois/history/civil/) & went to that web page. I clicked on Search Rosters, then search form (located at http://www.sos.state.il.us/cgi-bin/civilwar). I entered Anderson &, included in the results were the names of 2 of the brothers in G 10 Inf Company & unit, in Darwin, residence! Can't wait to send to the National Archives for the military records of Byron & James W. Anderson, my gr-granduncles. This is the results of my search for Andersons serving in IL units in the Civil War- http://www.sos.state.il.us/cgi-bin/civilwar?Anderson. Hope all of you researching Andersons serving in IL units in the Civil War can find your ancestor here (if you're researching other surnames serving in IL, just go directly to the search site at http://www.sos.state.il.us/cgi-bin/civilwar & type in the surname). Good luck. Mary Jane Leenstra
