James moved from Surry County to lands his father had bought in 1733 in Amelia County Virginia. He married in Amelia and was known to have been a house joiuner and to have built St. Andrew's church near current Jarratt, Virginia. In 1757 he sold some of his lands in Amelia County, abandoned the remainder and moved to Savannah, Georgia where he bought a lot in town. He petitioned the Georgia governor for and obtained lands along Rocky Creek in current Augusta, Georgia and moved in 1768 from Savanah to lot 19 in Augusta. He died shortly thereafter. His widow and sons continued to live on in Augusta until the revolutionary war, at which time their town home in Augusta was destroyed and James' gravesite obliterated during the construction of the British fortifications at Augusta. After the war the wdow and children sold their estate along Rocky creek and moved on into central Georgia. I know of one grandson, Thomas W. Anderson who is listed in the 1830 census of Twigg County, Georgia. I would like to make contact with family descendants. Endnotes 1.
