Hello to all, I am looking for any information I can find on my gr gr grandfather. He was J.W.M. Anderson. I think his initials stand for Joseph or Jesse, William, Marvin. I am looking for his parents and where he was born. J.W.M. Anderson was born about 1824. I know he married Nancy Coreen McClure in Clarke County, Alabama on July 15, 1845., Nancy C. McClure was the daughter of Robert McClure and Sarah Calloway. J.W.M.Anderson was in the Civil War. he was in the Alabama 38th Infantry Co."D". I have found him in the 1850 and 1860 census of Clarke County, Alabama. I think he died in the Civil War. I can find a record of a J. M. Anderson in the Civil War that died in Mobile in 1863 of Variola (small pox). This J.M. Anderson was in Co."B" not co."D". I have not found any burial records for him. Then I have another problem....Nancy married again to a Mr. Vann in 1865. This makes me belive that my gr gr grandfather did die in the Civil War. J.W.M. Anderson and Nancy C. McClure had 6 children all born in Clarke Co. Alabama. 1) Robert James Anderson b: Dec.24,1847,Clarke Co., Alabama d: Feb. 27, 1936, Austin, Texas, Confederates Solders Home 2) Jesse William Anderson, b: Dec. 1, 1849, Clarke Co., Alabama d: Dec. 30, 1913.Clarke Co., Alabama 3) Thomas Anderson, 4) Effie Anderson, m: Jowers 6) Mariah Anderson m: Dunn Any help on my family would be greatly appreciated.
