    2. Ok, on the Mossberg's. Genline runs specials, you can read more about it at www.genline.com They will also sell you small amounts of time too. However, there is a huge learning curve involved I think, in using Genline, and reading and absorbing the info. Do you know when they emigrated?? Do you know the parish from where they came?? Those things can be found out on the Sweden List, and the year of emigration is on the 1900 and 1910 census, I think. Genline might be cheaper than gas too, depending how close you are to a Family History Center. Plus, when you get on a roll and are searching, and you get the momentum going, you need to be able to access all the records at once. I found ordering the films too slow of a process for me. And they cost money too, so you'll have to weigh your options. Karrin in CA

    3. Hi, Karrin. I read the info on genline and I, too, worry about a steep learning curve for their data. I see I can do a month or two somewhat reasonably. Looks like it would all be very worthwhile, however to do it justice, I think I will have to leave it till fall or winter. Too busy a time of the year right now to spend hours online. Olof came over in the fall of 1888, following his sons Gustav and Carl, who came in the spring of 1888. His wife, Maja Lisa Mossberg, died 6 years after their marriage in Sweden, and he must have raised Gustav, Carl and Betty there alone. Betty stayed and possibly married and lived in Moss, Norway. Family lore says that Maja Lisa was from a wealthy family, and grandsons remembered hearing stories about the beautiful teams of horses the Mossberg family drove when they came to visit. I get the feeling that she maybe married beneath her. No stories of grandeur on Olof's side. No stories of any kind, to my knowledge. The only parish I know of is Rolanda parish, Dalsland. However, Carl's birthplace was shows as Bjorke. I found the algonet website very helpful in figuring out what region, province and county to search. I have much to learn yet about Sweden before some of this will make sense. There is no Family History Center close to me, as I'm in the boonies of Minnesota, so guess I'll be hitting ancestry.com and genline hard in the fall. Thanks. Appreciate any and all help.
