Judy Hill, I did some more searching. I cannot tell what happened to Martha Anderson. If you really want to know what happened to the Martha Anderson that I quoted, you need to visit www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk. You'll need to set-up an account. This is a great site if you have Scotish relatives. You'll have to buy credits on your credit card to get the details of the search. They aren't that expensive. The good news is they have tons of stuff on-line (actual scanned records going back to 1854). You can order records prior to that for more money (but the database will confirm they exist). Folks, this is one of the best genealogy sites on the web as far as I'm concerned. Not affiliated them in any way. Just a satisfied customer. I found 15 marriages of Martha Anderson between 1855-1865 in the database. It's a fairly popular name. I could not find Martha's birth to Stewart Anderson and Janet Hogg. I did spend some time looking for this. Here is what came up: Your OPR Births & Baptisms Search Returns You searched for: Surname: "Anderson"; Use Soundex: Off; Forename: "Martha*"; Sex: "Female"; Date From: 01 January 1834; Date To: 31 December 1836; No Date Surname Forename Parent Names/Frame No. Sex Parish GROS Data 1 14/11/1834 ANDERSON MARTHA GEORGE ANDERSON/JANET DIXON FR1210 CHILD 8 F ABERCORN 661/00 0005 2 26/08/1834 ANDERSON MARTHA JAMES ANDERSON/AGNES REID FR1737 F CAMPBELTOWN 507/00 0007 3 28/02/1836 ANDERSON MARTHA ROBERT ANDERSON/MARY WYLIE FR2239 F ABBEY (PAISLEY) 559/00 007* 4 19/08/1836 ANDERSON MARTHA HUGH ANDERSON/JANE LITTLE FR452 F ST QUIVOX 612/01 0002 None of these are from Stewart Anderson. But nothing saying one of these isn't yours. Good luck in your search. If you do find something, let me know, especially if it comes back to Stewart. What is the abbreviation "bca" (born between)? When you say the marriage license was not returned, what do you mean? Do you know if they were married in the US? Do you know if they immigrated over? Most of Stewart Anderson's family stayed pretty close to Kirriemuir, so we might be talking about another Martha. Do you know if your Martha was born in Scotland? Surely the one I'm reporting on was. ------------------------- Rick Anderson (rick.d.anderson@tektronix.com) Tektronix, Inc. I'm looking for parents of my g-grandmother, Martha Anderson bca 1834-1837. Martha married George W. Crane ca 1853; however, the marriage license was not returned. It was applied for in Greene Co., IN. Martha & George had several children, moved to IL around 1875 and one son was born there. They then returned to Greene Co., IN and died there. Who is Martha's family? Where did she come from? Would greatly appreciate all info and leads. Thanks!
