I have a David Anderson who was born in VA in 1837, living in Logan County, IL in the 1860 census listed as a farmhand. I know who his parents, siblings, etc. were but have nothing more on him. Could this be the same one? Susan in Milwaukee

Then the younger Melvin would be about 1 or 2 and in all probability there in the household. I am finding several Melvin Andersons with father's named Melvin. In order to find someone in an area as vast as the US just a little information is needed. So we know there is a Melvin born 1905 living somewhere in the US that has a son Melvin maybe born about 1928, do you know what state? does he have a wife? are there other siblings? Race? Anything else that can be used to distinguish one family from another.
Where arre your Andersons from. Mine are from Pa and Ohio and Iowa Sharon ----- Original Message ----- From: <dustie@adelphia.net> To: <ANDERSON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, March 25, 2005 9:57 PM Subject: [ANDERSON-L] Melvin Anderson Family > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Wl.2ADIB/9471 > > Message Board Post: > > I'm researching my family tree....anyone that can help with any > information about my family would be great...ask a question, whatever > information I can give is no problem... what little information I have... > Thanks > > > ==== ANDERSON Mailing List ==== > List web page - http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/surname/a/anderson.html > GENEALOGY LINKS - http://www2.netdoor.com/~cch/GEN-links.htm > >

You should be able to find him in the 1930 census I would think, if you knew where he was born. He should be in the Soc Sec Death Index and you would find his birthdate there, although nothing came up for Columbus Ohio for July 1981. If you find him in the death index, you can order a copy of his original application.

I have a Melvin Anderson, born 1933, Pennsylvania.
Hi, I descend from John L. Anderson, who was born in Florida in 1831. He married Rebecca Anderson in 1857. They lived in Walton and Holmes Cos., FL. John L. died during the Civil War. Rebecca remarried to Abel McDuffie in 1871. Rebecca and Abel were found living in Geneva Co., AL., and Holmes Co., FL. I do not have the parents of John L. Anderson, but he and Rebecca may have been cousins. Rebecca was the daughter of "Big John" Anderson who died in Walton Co, 1837, and Mary "Polly" Vaughan. Rebecca was born in 1835. Big John Anderson was born in 1809, in Scotland. I also need to know the parents of "Big John" Anderson. Would appreciate any help on these Anderson lines. Thanks. Sue

This branch of Anderson's began in Wooster, Wayne County Ohio. Joseph Anderson born abt 1816 did not live past 1860. Married a Margaret. Children: Lewis Catherine Samuel Joseph Martha ages unknown yet. Samuel Anderson married a Mary Ann Beckley in Wayne County. Joseph Anderson married Rebecca Yarnell in 1848 in Wayne County Ohio Appears the family lived in Mercer County Ohio for the 1870 census next door to Joseph and wife Rebecca. This would be after father Joseph passed. Samuel appears to have moved onto to Independence, Buchanan County Iowa as he passed there in 1895. Martha Anderson married a William Beresford in Wayne County year unknown. We believe the original father of Joseph to be William K. Anderson born in Ireland about 1795 and having died in 1856 in Wayne County Ohio, mother unknown. Siblings to Joseph are William Barber Anderson, Elizabeth Anderson Leitner, and mary Anderson Leitner. One son of William B. Anderson having moved onto Missouri Cyrus Beard Anderson. Anyone have these names in their tree? Lindsey
