The surgeon superintendent was Dr Alexander Cumming. David ANDERSON was British aged 22 and was 2nd Mate. There were many deaths on the voyage & later in quarantine. The ship was not cleared from quarantine until mid July. A monument was erected at the North Head Quarantine Station to commemorate the voyage & those who died. A reunion of surviving passengers was held in 1905 at the memorial site. The monument survives, see http://nla.gov.au/nla.pic-an23816980 . The 150th anniversary of the voyage is to be celebrated on 17 July 2005 at the North Head Quarantine Station, Manly NSW. Pearl Whitinger) Various census records show that Joseph's parents were born in Canada. I also have attached a picture of a man and a wife dressed in Scotch plaid that simply states "Dad's Grandparents" on the back of the picture. According to James N. Anderson's obituary which I have attached hereto Joseph's father's name was John. It is my assumption that Joseph's grandparents were from Scotland. His parents were John Hayward Anderson and Sarah Jane Miller. I have found a lot on the Miller side but nothing more on the Anderson side. I would be interested in anything you find. I am also curious about the Traynham middle name. It is a surname found a lot in Laurens Co. SC My dad was Rexford Traynham Anderson and his brother was George Hayward Anderson. Documents for Stella have her father's name listed as John J.; John G.; and G.W. Anderson. He is also referred to as Jimmy. No have I found any mention of Eliza being Cherokee.
