    2. I chekced for an 1870 census of this family and couldn't locate them. Do you know when IM Andersonwas born? Also best bet would be to track down a death certificate of one of his children maybe father's full name is listed on there. Hope these hints are helpful. Surnames: anderson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Wl.2ADIB/9489 Message Board Post: Dear fellow genealogist, I am currently working on a manuscript for Spring Creek Books and collecting inspiring family history stories to include in the book. I am currently naming the book "Climbing Family Trees-Whispers in the leaves" It's designed to be an inspiring book that includes a collection of true stories by people who have searched their family roots and discovered much more than names and dates. Their experiences testify that searching for our ancestors' records is much more than a passing hobby, and that there is something very spiritual about it that compels us to continue our quest. Some experiences could be called miraculous or coincidental, but the researcher feels a special unseen hand guiding his efforts. I wondered if you might have a story that you would like to share in this book.Of course, I can't guarantee that your story would be included in the final manuscript due to the Editor's discretion, but I would definitely include your name in the book if it does. You may have already written down some of your special experiences in your journal and find this an opportunity to finally the take the time to record those memories for your posterity. Please submit any stories to me by April 30, 2005. Thank you for considering this project. If you have any questions at all or would like to discuss your stories with me please feel free to e-mail me at: longforhome@cox.net Please feel free to share this letter with others who may be interested. 2. Paul D. Pruitt
    3. Good Morning Nancy My name is Paul Pruitt I am researching a Anderson line. We were against a brick wall on my wife's great grand father for years and just found his parents names on his death record. His name was John Henry Anderson and was born in VA in 1864. His parents names were Thomas J. Anderson born 1833 and Martha E. Robinson born 1833. They were married 25 Dec. 1856 in Cumberland Co. VA. Looks like Thomas's father was James Anderson born about 1805. his wife's name was Fannie born about 1810. Nancy, I have information on John and his brothers and sisters and his descendants. I need information on James and his parents and ancestors. Does any of the above information fit in with the line that you are working on?? Thanks ahead of time for any help you can give me. If this is a branch off your line I have photos and a bunch of stuff. Also would be happy or share it all. What part of the country do you live in?? 3. Cumming and Anderson sound like Scottish names. Scots and Irish seaman used to have to sign themselves as British, while English seaman could sign themselves as English. As a former Merchant Seaman I used to witness many rows and near riots on this, especially as we had to have shore passes for the US and I found the US immigration cops more sympathetic to the Celts demands not to be classed as "British" (particularly in one incident in Galveston, Texas). Many Scots and Irish immigrants had to sail through English ports. Some Scots through Irish ports and some Irish through Scottish ports, which may add to confusion. Like today England liked to maintain a monopoly on passage form their seas and airports, forcing Scots to travel that way, as some will experience when trying to fly to Scotland and having to land at London airports.
