    2. Judy Olson
    3. Hi, Karrin; Olof Anderson was born January 7, 1836 in Dalsland, Rolanda Parish and married Maja Lisa Mossberg in 1864 in Rolanda Parish. She was the daughter of Johannes Mossberg and Britta Germundsdotter. She was born October 15, 1841 in Rolanda and died December 18, 1870 in Hasteryr, Rolanda. Olof came to Minnesota in the fall of 1888. His sons, Carl Wilhelm Olson(born July 4, 1869 in Bjorke, Sweden) and Gustav Albin Olson(born March 4, 1866, Dalsland, Rolanda) came to Minnesota in the spring of 1888. Betty Helena was born March 20, 1864 and didn't emigrate. She died April 26, 1953 in Rygge, Norway. Some distant cousins presented me with a huge volume on the Mossbergs, which consists of names, dates and lineage. No personal information. I feel like I know her family from the extensive lines. If your Mossberg could be listed in there, I'd be glad to do a lookup for you. Was thinking of asking for an emigrant lookup on all three men on the Sweden list, but wasn't sure the dates that CDs are available and was planning to sit in the shadows a while and find out. Glad you understand the spring thing. :-) Judy -----Original Message----- From: KARRINT@aol.com [mailto:KARRINT@aol.com] Sent: Tuesday, April 12, 2005 7:05 PM To: ANDERSON-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [ANDERSON-L] Olof (Olle) Anderson (later using Olson, as his sons did)-Ja... Hej Judy! Do you have any birthdates for these fine folks?? I can pose a question on the Sweden List and see if we can't get some clearer parish info for you. 3. Hi, Karrin. I read the info on genline and I, too, worry about a steep learning curve for their data. I see I can do a month or two somewhat reasonably. Looks like it would all be very worthwhile, however to do it justice, I think I will have to leave it till fall or winter. Too busy a time of the year right now to spend hours online. Olof came over in the fall of 1888, following his sons Gustav and Carl, who came in the spring of 1888. His wife, Maja Lisa Mossberg, died 6 years after their marriage in Sweden, and he must have raised Gustav, Carl and Betty there alone. Betty stayed and possibly married and lived in Moss, Norway. Family lore says that Maja Lisa was from a wealthy family, and grandsons remembered hearing stories about the beautiful teams of horses the Mossberg family drove when they came to visit. I get the feeling that she maybe married beneath her. No stories of grandeur on Olof's side. No stories of any kind, to my knowledge. The only parish I know of is Rolanda parish, Dalsland. However, Carl's birthplace was shows as Bjorke. I found the algonet website very helpful in figuring out what region, province and county to search. I have much to learn yet about Sweden before some of this will make sense. There is no Family History Center close to me, as I'm in the boonies of Minnesota, so guess I'll be hitting ancestry.com and genline hard in the fall. Thanks. Appreciate any and all help. Ok, on the Mossberg's. Genline runs specials, you can read more about it at www.genline.com They will also sell you small amounts of time too. However, there is a huge learning curve involved I think, in using Genline, and reading and absorbing the info. Do you know when they emigrated?? Do you know the parish from where they came?? Those things can be found out on the Sweden List, and the year of emigration is on the 1900 and 1910 census, I think. Genline might be cheaper than gas too, depending how close you are to a Family History Center. Plus, when you get on a roll and are searching, and you get the momentum going, you need to be able to access all the records at once. I found ordering the films too slow of a process for me. And they cost money too, so you'll have to weigh your options. Hej Judy! I'd love to help you find your way with Swedish archives. May I also suggest that you join the SWEDEN List at www.Rootsweb.com , subscribe there and start reading the emails. It's a very active list, posting 600 emails a month, etc. Also, I have researched my girlfriend's name of Mossberg! She lives here in California. do you know from where the Mossberg's came, and did they come to Illinois??? I have helped her with her research so have some info on her line. Swedish records are incredible! They were taken yearly by the parish priests. Also, when it comes to reading them, the Sweden List is excellent. You can access the same info at the Family History Centers but you still need help reading the old writing and the abbreviations that they uses. So, join the list for sure. 3. Hi, Am wondering if there are Swedish archives such as the digitalarkvet of Norway that might give me census or immigration informaton on Swedes. I am searching for more info on the above, Olof Anderson, who married Maja Lisa Mossberg, daughter of Johannes Mossberg and Britta Germundsdotter. She died 1870 in Hasteryr, Rolanda and Olof came to the United States in the fall of 1888, we believe. We have quite a lineage for Maja Lisa, but nothing on Olof except that his father was Anders Swensson. I haven't done any research on my Swedish ancestors yet, and am hoping some of you can point me to some links. We are attending a reunion of Olof's descendents in July, and I'd be thrilled to find anything. Thanks. Judy
