    3. The Elliots were a Border Clan. Many Border clans were deported to Ulster, or be hingit, in 1603, under James 1V of Scotland !1 of England, at eh instigation of English Border Lords who were fed up with the Scots attacking them and stealing their coos. Many moved to America, (after attacking the English again in Ulster) mostly as indentured servants and up to Appalachia, to become frontiersmen again. Kinmont Willie Elliot escaped from Queen Lizzie's jail after a Border raid and King Shamus hung him for upsetting his new "United" Kingdom. Willie said in his defence that he never killed any Scotlsmen, only English. I know this is not much soecific help, but the background of the "Wild Elliots" may be of some help. I doi remember a cowboy movie star as a kid called Wild Bill Elliot and this may have been a legacy. She is supposed to have married George ANDERSON on 13 Apr 1797 in Lincoln Co Ky but she is also supposed to have married a John ANDERSON. > Anyone know anything about this family?

    3. Sorry to hear that. There are always those who are too stupid and petty to know or care how low they have sunk. When my first son was born I chose some red roses from the florist - after I came oot the pub ("wetting the wean's heid" we call it here). I wondered why all the nurses were staring at me in the ward. My wife telt me next day that I had brought in a bunch o' plastic floo'ers tae the hospital. My bloke brought me a big bunch of fresh irises, when we had our first (a son -1968) in Dunfermline Maternity Hosp. My mother-in-law was horrified he taken me irises ... the signifigance of those particular flowers is .. 'a sign of rejection'. Thought she was going to disown him, when she found out. Me? I didn't know what the meaning was, but was chuffed to bits he even thought of flowers at all. 6 thousand miles from home, so no family about not even his (they were in Sx), I was just happy to see him. The following week my Scottish mother flew over and the in-laws came to visit. [P.S. .. the lads from the boat had been using the excuse of 'wettin' the head' for several months, which upset me greatly > I'm very superstitious. Kept telling them to wait until the bairn was born and not before!!] Toni ~ Ontario

    1. A very old book....
    2. I am in possession of a small book in a language unknown to me and it has two names on the flyleaf. One of them is Schua J. Anderson. I'm not sure of the spelling of the first name because of the handwriting. There is a date of Sept. 18th, 1901. On the front of the book is written: KATEKES OCH BIBLISK HISTORIA There is no ISBN, but the third page says: Entered, according to the Act of Congress, in the year 1879, by The Board of Directors of Augustana College and Theological Seminary, Rock Island, Ill., in the Office of the Librarian of Congress at Washington, D.C. A notation at the bottom of the same page: Lutheran Augustana Book Concern, Rock Island, Ill. If this book belonged to someone in your family, I would love to send it to you. Betty Jump
