Greetings List; I am trying to sort out the James, William and David Anderson's found in the 1820 Fed Census for Jeff. Co, IN. Anyone out there doing Anderson's there? My James and family arrived in Jeff CO abt 1815-16 and left there for IL Oct, 1830. Being there are three James, John's and William's it has become a challange. Any and all help is needed. Thank You, Don Hayes-Moline, IL.
Greetings, List. I am researching the Anderson's of Jeff Co, IN. also. My James W. seems to have arrived in Jeff. Co abt 1815-16 according to obits of two of his sons John b 1808-KY and James S. b 1810-KY. I have noticed three pairs of John's and Jameses in the 1820 Fed census. I have read in on line taxes and land records etc. of Jeff. Co dated 1816-1828. Does anyone have the Anderson reading of the Jeff. Co. 1820 Fed census? The William G with wife Anna are of interest to me because indentifing them and their descendants can help seperate out my James Anderson and my lines. My James bought land there( Jeff. Co.) about 1816 and stayed there until 1830 when they left for Morgan Co, IL. The sons, John and James, were too young to be listed anywhere but in Morgan Co, but there also a David, William and an Alex is listed next door in Sangamon Co, Il. Could anyone please identify the children of William G and their dates of birth as you know them? Any brothers etc? Looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you in advance, Don Hayes-Moline, IL.

Surnames: SHINKLE, ANDERSON, CAPLINGER/KEPLINGER, BENNINGTON, CUSTER, HOLMES, ARNOLD, BOND Barbara SHINKLE (dau. of Frederick & Jamaeca SHINKLE) married Sam ANDERSON (son of William and Mary BROCK ANDERSON), in Bainbridge, Ross Co., OH on Sept 16, 1891. They had 10 children including twins who died at birth. The family lived in the 700 blk of North St., Greenfield, OH. On June 16, 1915 Sam and Barbara were divorced and the family split up. My mother, born Lucinda ANDERSON, her sister Ruth and possibly their brother Theodore, were taken away from Barbara after she and Sam divorced. My mother was put in the Highland Co. Childrens Home in Hillsboro. Barbara continued to live at the North St. address with the older boys who were old enough to work. In July 1916 Barbara married Lee BENNINGTON from Wilmington OH. At that time the family remained in the Greenfield area. Some of the ANDERSON family stayed in the Greenfield area and their descendants are living there still. Lucinda was possibly adopted and her name changed to Margaret Lucile BOND, then returned to the orphanage where she was in the 1920 census. The two girls were brought to Indiana after the 1920 census by Mr and Mrs Charles (Catherine CUSTER) HOLMES where they were raised. Mrs CUSTER-HOLMES said she got the girls from a very good friend of hers, and Mrs CUSTER-HOLMES was from the same Ohio area as the SHINKLES. My mother used the name Margaret Lucile ANDERSON on her marriage certificate, but was unable to find any certificate of her birth when she reached retirement age. The other children all had birth certificates, which supports her early memory of being adopted then returned. I wonder if the BOND family were relatives or family friends? My mother stayed in Indiana, married my father and lived the rest of her life here. Her sister Ruth married George ARNOLD, they lived the rest of their lives in Florida. One brother went to Good Hope, OH, one was in Dayton, one was in Cleveland and Theodore possibly became a minister. Two of the ANDERSON brothers were in the State Prison fire in the 30's where one was cited for bravery for helping free prisoners, thus saving many lives. Unfortunately he was unable to save the life of his own brother who died in the flames. The surviving brother ended up committing suicide after his release. There are descendants of my mothers brothers that we can not seem to find any trace of. I have been to the Greenfield/Highland county area several times trying to find answers to many questions and talked to several new-found cousins and family. We located Sam and Barbaras graves. Barbara was living at the time of her death, at 433 McClain St, Greenfield OH, back of the High School. There are more descendants of the children of Sam and Barbara ANDERSON and I would very much enjoy hearing from them and sharing family stories. The most important unanswered question is why the SHINKLES who were fairly well off did not take my Mother and her sister into their families. Perhaps Barbara was disowned after marrying Sam? I would appreciate sharing info about this ANDERSON line, and would gladly pay for copies of family pictures if there are any.
Hi list; New to the list and trying to find info on the W. M. Anderson family of Juno Tennessee. From photographs and correspondence I have in my possession, I am assuming W. M. Anderson's wife was Frances, and their children were Willie and Ada. Ada Anderson married Francis Marion Fesmire 12 Jan 1910 and they had two children Homer Dalton and Alice Lucille. I have a letter from Ada to my great grandfather William Henry Simmons. My great grandfather has marked the letter, from Ada, a cousin, so I am trying to find out how she and the Andersons fit into my Simmons line. As it turns out my great great grandfather A. B. Simmons can be found living in Madison County in 1870, next door to Henderson County, so it could be one of his siblings married into the Anderson line. Just don't know who his siblings are. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Warm regards from Texas; Nancy Merritt

Sometimes allied family related books can be a big help on finding family history, they may just find what we don't on our families. I emailed the person that has this book for the Anderson names in the index from the back of the book. They emailed back and this is the Anderson family names from the index: ANDERSON: Albert Edwin Arthur Ashby Arthur Pickett Ashby Danford Barbara Elizabeth Betty Arlene Betty Louise Bradley Carolyn Stuart Charles Chrisman Charles Hull Christopher White Douglas Dwayne Neal Emma Mathilda Fred Sprout Frederic Pafford Haideen Irene Hilda James Adams James Palmer Jane Palmer Jerome Schenck John Palmer Kimberly Les Mark Leslie McCall Linda Sue Lloyd Earl Lyle Ray Margaret Elizabeth Margaret Fitch Margaret Marion Mary Lou Miles Olive Elizabeth Peter Avery Robert Byrnes Robert Gail Robert Palmer Ross DeBlasis Scott Beckner Stephen Ashby Thomas Gardiner William Beckner William V. If this is your family you can find it by going to google and typeing in Tharpe's Rare Books the using their search box on the left of their page to search for ANDERSON , Be sure to search in title and desc. The title of this particular book is called BURROWS and Allied Family History 1,815 pages Although there are seveal showing to have Anderson families in them. They have name indexes shown for most of their books. Hope that helps someone, Jamie
