Jennet Anderson married Brinson Hollis in Craven County North Carolina in 1815. In Troup Co. GA by 1838 to 1840, then in Dale County Alabama by 1844. They (?) had moved on to Jackson County Florida by 1852 (?). Any help on either line greatly appreciated and happy to swap files. Walt
Must apologies for earlier posting error. That's what happens when you are researching a James Jackson and a James Anderson. My search is for James G. Anderson born in 1834 in Symth, VA. Married Cosbia C. Horton in 1857 in Russell, VA. I have nothing beyond him. His children were George Washington Anderson born 25 Nov 1857 Rush B. Anderson born 1860 James J. Anderson born 1864 Nannie Anderson born 1866 Robert Anderson born 1868 Thomas Anderson born 1870 Dudley Anderson born 13 Oct. 1883 All but George were born in Kentucky in Magoffin County. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jan Anderson Leonard
I am still looking for antecedents of Samuel Anderson, b. MA between 1769 and 1782 possibly son of Archelaus Anderson and second wife, Sarah. Archelaus died of small pox in West Point (N.Y.?) in 1782. A Mrs. Sarah Anderson died in Newstead, Erie County, N.Y. in 1835. Samuel settled in Erie County, N.Y. in about 1812, m. Jane Morris/Maurice and had several children, one of whom was Clarissa Jane who married Hiram Crowell. This latter couple lived in N.Y., Ontario, Canada then removed to Michigan. They died in Hillsdale, MI. Any clues to these Andersons would be much appreciated. Alice T. Looking for information on Anderson Families of Scioto Co., Ohio about 1810 to 1840. Specifically Jacob Anderson. His son's Bible lists Jacob's birth place as Canandaigua Co., New York. I not sure that is correct because that was still Indian territory in 1785. Jacob married Julia Huston in Scioto Co., Ohio, in 1814. They relocated to Randolph Co., Illinois, in 1834/35 with six or seven children; Zebulon, Susannah, Julia, Margaret, Samuel, Jacob, and possibly Benjamin. The Anderson names in Scioto Co. in 1820 and 1830 Census; 1820 - Elijah - Cornelius - Jacob 1830 - Abner - Cornelius - William - Thornton - Benjamin - Andrew - Elijah - Jacob I haven't connected Jacob to any of these yet. Am looking for infomation on John Anderson b. 1752 where unk., died 1814 in Chillicothe Ohio. Was married to Deborah at the time of his death, might have been married before. He had the following children: Polly, Abigail, Levi, John, Jonathan, Rebecca, Gershom, Mahlon. They came to the Chillicothe area from Charles Town, Wva. in the early 1800's. According to William Brothers History of Ohio, Ross and Highland Counties, John accompanied by his son Levi, came to Ross Co. in 1808 from Virginia. It is quite possible that John had come to Chillicothe before this date, as there are court records concerning a debt by John Anderson in 1799 where Gershom and Jonathan came as witnesses. At the time of his death he owned property (at least 100 acres) and gave Levi his home and lot on Water St., at his mothers decease. Levi was also given his shop, where he (John) was a wheelwright, chair maker and made spinning wheels and may have owned a tannery and leatherworks. If anyone has access to information from the Charles Town area or could help with Va searches, I would love to hear from you. Greg Williamson
