    1. [ANDERSON-L] Re: Two Anderson women
    2. Time to post again a query about two Anderson women, probably mother and daughter, who sit atop my brick wall. The elder is Ann T (probably for Talitha) Davis, who apparently had been married first to a man named Anderson. She is found living with Willilam and Ann Anderson Bennett in a rural area of Williamson County, Texas, in the 1860 census. She gives her birth place as Kentucky. Ann Davis supposedly had married a man named James or Jim Davis who may have killed himself a short time earlier in Williamson County. Ms. Davis' name appears on several real estate transactions in that county, No further trace has been found of her in either cemeteries, marriage licenses, census records, etc. Ann Anderson Bennett, who birthdate of March 17, 1843, is found on family Bible records, also lists her birthplace as Kentucky. We know her previous name was Anderson, found on marriage license in Georgetown. When her husband dies in a Yankee prison camp, she removes to Limestone County, Texas, and later marries Thomas Sharp, a CSA veteran. I can find no trace of either of these Anderson women in Kentucky. My question is, does any Anderson researcher have two missing Anns? Any help or leads would be appreciated. love joan

    1. [ANDERSON-L] WILLIAM E. ANDERSON
    2. This may help those researching WILLIAM E. ANDERSON. I have a WILLIAM E. ANDERSON that was on Monroe Co., GA Census in 1830 page 218: 1-0-1-1-1-0-1-000000-1-1-2-000-1-0000000. He is listed as William Anderson but I found in The Georgia Genealogical Magazine, Issues 27-30, 1968, page 1872: "Jan 16, 1834 in Forsyth, Thursday the 9th inst., MR. JAMES L. ANDERSON, age 24 years, son of William E. Anderson of Monroe County. He leaves a "small family". He had come to town to vote on Monday the 6th in the election for county officers, and was stabbed three times with a dirk in the hands of a drunken wretch named Lewis who was trying to stab another man. Deceased was an excellent young man." I believe William E. Anderson is on the Stafford Co., VA 1820 census, page 218: 100010--30010. On page 120 of that same census is a Richard Anderson, 40010-00110. I'm not sure when William E. Anderson died but I believe it was before 1840. Bill

    1. [ANDERSON-L] Normandy Beach
    2. My parents have just returned from Europe and while there they visited the American military cemetary at Normandy. They found several markers of ANDERSON men from Jackson, Roane and Greenbrier and my Dad was asking me if I knew whether or not they were related. I don't have any military history notes of men who may have died there. They did take pictures of these markers as well as a few other WV markers and when developed they will give me a copy. I'll try to post the names and if anyone "belongs" to them will send you a copy. It is an awesome sight - if you saw the movie "Saving Private Ryan" then you would recognize the cemetary from there. In the meantime, if anyone has information on ANDERSON men that died at Normandy, I would greatly appreciate your sharing the information with me. Kay San Antonio, TX

    2. James Anderson
    3. Hi everyone, my ANDERSON'S came from County Derry, Ireland to New Zealand via the U.S.A. at the end of the 19th/beginning of the 20th century. My grandfather was William John Glenn ANDERSON and he came here with his brothers Aaron, Robert, James and one sister Isabella Maise Osborne, who came with her husband, William CLARKE. There was one other brother, Samuel, who I know nothing about, and one sister Eleanor, who stayed in the U.S.A. marrying a chap with the surname of KNOX. Their parents were Aaron and Martha ANDERSON with Martha's maiden name being GLENN. I believe that Aaron was a farmer in Ireland. If anyone is able to help with further information I would be very grateful. Thanks Jimmy jimmy-a@xtra.co.nz
