Hello Listers - my first posting to you all! Here are my Anderson's! They have been pretty well consigned to the too hard basket for the past couple of years - perhaps someone will recognise them, or be able to offer suggestions as to how I can track them down from as far away as Australia! John or James ANDERSON and his wife Ingra Augusta ? were the parents of: Joseph ANDERSON who married Florentine (Florence) CHAUVIN in Ste Stephens, Chambly 28 November 1828 Frederick Anderson may have married Mary Rosalie Depautie 1 Aug 1825 William Anderson John Bapriste Anderson may have married Marie Charltte Deniau Jane Margaret Anderson Alexander Swanson Anderson Sadly, I have no dates or places of birth for this little lot, but maybe one of the names will jog someone's memory! Joseph Anderson & his wife Florentine (Florence) Chauvin had the following children, all born Chambly, Quebec Sophia Hannah Anderson b 14 May 1826, St Stephen, Chambly Marie Elizabeth Anderson b 28 March 1825 Godparents Laurent Vegiard & Josette Daignaux Mathilda Anderson m 1. HENDERSON m 2. Charles SAVAGEAU BAPTISTE, son of Jean Baptiste & Margaret Almond, 21 October 1845, St Joseph de Chamby (Catholic) William Horace Anderson b 1832 Eliza Aglee Anderson b 1834 Eugenia Emilia Helen Anderson b 1836 Louisa Anderson b 1830 Following Josephs death Florence married Luc Egan in 1839 in Ste Josephs Parish, Chambly, Quebec. They had a further four children, John, Katherine, Luke & Edward. Sophia Hannah Anderson is my GG Grandmother and married William George Longfield DOWDE on 12 April 1842, Chambly, whilst he was stationed there in the army. Am really keen to discover more about these members of my families, and the whereabouts of descendents etc. We think that perhaps they were from Scotland, but the question, of course, is from where?? Regards Ann Sunshine Coast of Queensland.
Hello, all, My mother was viewing a program like 'This old house' where they were in Alaska fixing up the house of ROSCOE ANDERSON who had a grocery store for miners in the Alaska gold rush (ca. 1897-98). She said the photo of Roscoe Anderson bore an amazing resemblance to her father, Omer ROSCOE Aurand (whose mother was Kathryn ANDERSON). Coincidence????? My research has not indicated that Kathryn Anderson had a brother or uncle by that name, but who knows for sure. Does anyone out there know anything about Roscoe Anderson of Fairbanks, Alaska? Thanks, Lisa Wright Betts........betts@sprintmail.com

The grandparents on the mother's side, RICHARD and SARAH MARLOW, were born in Illinois. Perry County, Ill., was organized at the home of Berry Anderson. he was a Liberal-minded, public-spirited man, a firm friend of education, and devoted much of his time and means to the education of his family. The subject of this sketch considers his father the greatest teacher he has ever seen. Richard B. Anderson attended the public schools in the neighborhood of his early home, and supplemented his primary education by courses in the Illinois Agricultural College and the National Normal School at Lebanon, Ohio. at the age of twenty years he began teaching. He was Superintendent of Schools at Pickneyville, Ill., for six years, County Superintendent of Perry County (Ill.) schools four years, Superintendent of Schools at Carlinville, Ill., five years, and of the Bushnell (Ill.) schools seven years. Hi, A quick search of the LDS site (www.familysearch.org) came up with 2 marriages for Archelaus Anderson in Massachusetts: 30 May 1765 to Miriam BIGLO in Shrewsbury, Worcester Co. Abt 1769 to Sarah (Unknown surname) in Chester, Hampden Co. Also, there is an entry for an Archelaus (Archibald) Anderson in "Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors in the War of the Revolution, - Vol. I. by the Secretary of the Commonwealth. published in Boston by Wright and Potter Printing Co., 1896." which I will send to you if you want. Cheers, Brenda Anderson researching Peter & Elizabeth ANDERSON and descendants in New Zealand. -----Original Message----- From: HGreen8485@aol.com <HGreen8485@aol.com> To: ANDERSON-L@rootsweb.com <ANDERSON-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Tuesday, 7 September 1999 15:50 Subject: [ANDERSON-L] 1600 to 1700 Boston area baptisms/marraiges > Where can I find records of baptisms and/or marriages in the >communities around Boston, Massachusetts, in the seventeenth >century? I am looking for information on my ggggrandfather, Henry W. Anderson, b. abt. 1811 in S.C. and moved to Pontotoc County, MS. His wife was Arthana (Arthany). He may have had a brother, George Thomas Anderson, who also came to Pontotoc County. Henry is on the 1850 census (Pontotoc Co.), but not on the 1860...(his wife and children are listed without him). His children were: Ira, Benjamin F., Arthana, Mary, Ruth, James Q. and George. If you can help me with this family, please let me know. Thanks, Bill Zachary
I am trying to trace the ancestry of my maternal great-grandfather, Charles Enoch Anderson. He was born Dec 7, 1877 in Laurelton, NJ (now Brick Township); married Mary Ethel Emmons (daughter of Hiram Emmons and Mary Jane Potter of Freehold) on Nov 26, 1903; and died in 1950. I am told by family sources that his ancesters lived in Bayville for several generations. Bayville is now a part of Ocean County, but was part of Monmouth County prior to the mid 1800's. I would greatly appreciate any information or leads anyone can provide. Thank you, Jim Harris
Hello List I am looking for a Hazel Stephens who lives in Bishop California. I have understood that she might be able to help me with some research, and need to contact her. Does anyone know of her or is she on this list. If so, please have her contact me. Thanks Sharon sharon@planetc.com

Dear Listers - We've had several postings of late from people looking for their Andersons (as are we all!) who give no information except names. I'm sure that many of you have odds and ends you could check to try to help persons posting queries. But it gets ridiculous when we get notes asking for John Anderson and wife Mary. No time frame. No place. Where - When????? Lee Cognetta
>Where - When????? Springfield, Essex County, New Jersey, 1820's-early 1830's Mitchell Anderson owned property there, married first Mary Thompson and second Catherine Sickley. George Ledlow Anderson, a son of Mitchell and Mary, ran away at age 13 to Harford County, Maryland, married Ann Mariah Singleton of Harford County and raised a large family. Will trade information about 1000 of their descendants for information about 1 of their ancestors. I believe that Mitchell's parents were Andrew Anderson and wife Sarah. Mitchell and family appear in the 1840 Census in New York City. I have not located him or 2nd wife Catherine in 1850. Glenn

There is an Elias L Anderson buried in the Bayville Cemetary. His marker is too badly eroded to discern dates. Although Bayville is now in Ocean County, it was a part of Monmouth County until 1860. There is also a marker nearby for a Catherine Anderson. The marker states that she was the wife of Elias Anderson, and died March 11, 1804, age 85 years. It sounds like this Elias Anderson would be too old to be the one you are seeking, but there may be a relationship. There are a number of Anderson's in the Bayville cemetary. Although I believe them to be my maternal ancesters, I have not completed the links at this time. Jim Harris jharris5@home.com
