Looking for anyone that can give me any info. on the following people. Thanks Jim Bryant Does anyone recognize any of these names? My great-granduncle, Andrew Lair Anderson, remained in MO. when the remainder of the family moved to Texas. His sister, Francis Ann also stayed there. We have little info. on these Anderson relatives. Most of their children were born in Lewis Co., Mo. Other MO. counties mentioned in the history are Shelby and Knox. Andrew Lair Anderson's children were named: John Joseph Rebecca Sarah (m. Joseph S. Nelson) Martha J. Mary Elizabeth(m. Wesley Cave) Elizabeth J. Benjamin C.(died young) Andrew Matilda. The above were born from 1836 to 1857. Frances Ann Anderson and John Jones children's names were typical except for one: Mary E William H. Elizabeth H. John A.(wife:Jane, children: William,Alice,James,Florence,Mary,May) Napoleon B. Mariah. Do any of these names look familiar? I have info on their ancestry that I will exchange for their descendants. In Lawrence Co Ohio, I need help checking the 1840 census, Land ownership records, and Probate records for the following family: Father: James Anderson b: abt 1796 married: abt 1826 d: abt 1843+ Wife: Nancy b:abt 1803 5 children 1.Peter b: 28 OCT 1833 va d: 29 July 1908 tx 2.James b: 1835 va 3.John Thomas b: 1838 va d: 1 Jan 1892 oh 4.Suzanne b: 1841 5.George Wash b: 31 Aug 1843 oh d: 2 May 1923 Denton co, Texas m: Bassheba Dean 8 Oct 1868 Ironton, Lawrence, Ohio GW is my GGrandfather and James is his father. I have not been able to verify the family on an 1840 census. I understand that his wife Nancy married a Joseph McIntyre after 1850 and was with him to their death in early 1870's. In the early 1870's, GW moved the family to Southern Illinois with his wife's family (James Dean family) then on to Texas in the late 1870's. Hopefully there might be a probate record for James and a Land record also. Possibly these records could verify the family and possibly show who his parents were and where he was born. I appreciate any and all help. I have other information available and am willing to share. Thanks again, Wm Jay Anderson Denton Texas
This is GREAT! I just received this from another list. Cornell University has put the ENTIRE "War of the Rebellion" on the internet!!! Over 60 volumes!!! It includes scanned images of reports, correspondence, seizures of Southern property, etc. sent to the War Dept. during the Civil War. It includes both Union and Confederate accounts. It is in chronological order but there is no online index. Many libraries have the index. Find the volume and page number for your subject in the index at the library. Go to this website http://moa.cit.cornell.edu/MOA/MOA-JOURNALS2/WARO.html and you're in business. awesome.. The Albamarle County "Andersons" -----> David, his wife Elizabeth (Mills) and several of their children left wills ... Oldest son, William, left a will that was among the papers reviewed by the General Assembly regarding the emancipation of the Anderson slaves - The will has been reprinted in VIRGINIA GLEANINGS IN ENGLAND by Lothrop Withington ... In W.P. Andersons' second book on this Anderson family, there is the mention of slave names ... In his first book is a reprint of David & Elizabeth's wills - In Janice Caldwell's book on this Anderson family, there is the mention of slave names ... Jerry Anderson ... http://members.home.net/j.r.anderson/personal.html
Don't know if my Anderson's were Multi=racial or not, THOUGH I have heard from a Anderson Male cousin that there is the RUMOR in his family of NA, and my Anderson's married a Goin's, who is Melungeon, (which is ?????), and NA... so I am still looking, but nothing yet! I know that Amelia and Peyton Anderson (brother & sister) b. early 1800's were European looking, BUT some of their children weren't that light, as I have a few pictures of them!
