Samuel B. ANDERSON's wife died in 1862 or 1863, leaving an infant who was raised by an aunt. The aunt was probably her sister, and was probably Susan YOUNG, who was m. to David YOUNG. I do not have an 1860 census, but would love to know if these two families appear in Blount county then. Also - does anyone know if this Samuel B. Anderson is (or is related to) Confederate Brigadier General Samuel B. Anderson? Thanks! Carol C-H <cch@netdoor.com> http://www2.netdoor.com/~cch/
I am trying to locate some info on Emily Anderson, daughter of Peter Anderson and Caroline Munson. Emily married Andrew Granville. Andrew was apparently an artist and was written up in a French magazine about December 1967. At least I think it is French. My Aunt wrote in a note that it was "La Revue" Modern des Arts et de la Vie, 14 Rue de la rmorique, Paris France (although in her note it says she was having a hard time reading her notes to transcribe the info). Question? Does anyone know of Emily or Andrew Granville, or how to locate a copy of the above magazine? I would appreciate any help. Stephen Carlile

A Card Capt. M'DANIEL DORRISS, Sir - Having understood from a respectable source, that you have stated that I had recanted from an understanding between us, respecting a race to be run by the "Sir Archie" and "Pioneer" horses, I take the liberty of reminding you, that on the same day you bantered Mr. ANDERSON to run for a bet of fifty dollars, (and he declined running for a sum of that amount, on account of the trouble of putting his horse in order) I told you most distinctly that I would take the bet upon myself, which you agreed to, in the presence of several witnesses. Now Sir, if you have any doubt (as you have probably stated) that I am not able to spare that sum, the money shall be placed in the hands of some responsible and disinterested man; and you can be accommodated at any time within two or three months before the race. Under these circumstances, Sir, it will be expected that you will close the race. Very Respectfully, Yours, &c. B. W. effersonian Republican Jefferson City, Cole Co, MO June 4, 1831 A Card Mr. John ANDERSON, Sir, I take this method of informing you that I will run my horse Sir Archie, at any time after the first of July 1831, against your horse Pioneer, at a distance of one mile or upwards, for a wager of two hundred dollars or over; a k??? on each horse, or equal weight. The race to take place any where in Cole or Cooper counties. Amon ENGLISH - may 28, 1831 A Card Mr. Amon ENGLISH, Sir, I have seen a note of yours, which I presume you addressed to me. You, Sir, in the above piece, pretend to barter my horse. Now Sir, I will leave it to any gentleman who is a competent judge of the rules of racing, if your banter is not an ungenerous and an unjust one. I know not what horse you call Sir Archie, but I will run my horse Pioneer against the one lately owned by Mr. Hutchin INGLISH, which he called "Young Whip", agreeably to the rules of racing, - at any place, or for any sum of money, not exceeding five hundred dollars. I just joined this list and would like to know if anyone out there is researching the family of Sally ANDERSON. She married James SUTTON on 17 Mar 1817 in Lincoln Co. KY. The marriage bond listed her father as John ANDERSON. Her husband, James Sutton, died young and left her with 4 small children: George, Mary Jane, Mortimore and Amanda. I have not done any research on Sally's line, so any information would be appreciated. Thanks Anna L. Martin e.mail:ANNALOUM@aol.com

-----Original Message----- From: Stephen Carlile <sdcinc@teleport.com> To: ANDERSON-L@rootweb.com <ANDERSON-L@rootweb.com> Date: Sunday, November 07, 1999 1:31 PM Subject: Notes from Mom I just found a note of my mother's in her family bible. It says: Swan Levine Anderson B 9/2/1851 at Nykyrka Skaraborg. Married 11/12/1876 in Page Co. Iowa. Died March 17, 1928 at Minneapolis, Minn. His wife's name was Selma Louise Johnson. Swan Mangus Anderson (my great grandfather) came to Jamestown NY when he was 7 years old w/his parents Peter and Caroline. They came to Lucas Co. Iowa where he married Elizabeth Jane Ragan. From Lucas Co. they moved to Beloit, Kansas in 1878 and then to Kiowa Co. (Kansas) in 1885. June (my aunt) says she can't connect anything. I am assuming that the location Nykyrka Skaraborg is in Sweden where my Anderson family came from but I do not know if there is a connection between the two Swan Anderson's noted above either. As my great grandfather was born about June of 1850, it would appear that he and his parents came to Jamestown NY about 1857; however, I have not been able to find any documentation of that event. If anyone can shed any light on the above I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks. Stephen Carlile
This is for North Carolina Anderson researchers. I've created a bank of NC Anderson messages by county (from ANDERSON@rmgate.pop.indiana.edu & Rootsweb) during the period Sept. 96- Nov. 99. http://www.grin.net/~rickshay/anderson/JAnderson/ncandlist/ncaql.htm I'm sure that I may have missed some queries, and I've tried not to duplicate too many queries, but I'm hoping this will go a long way in organizing North Carolina. Next year I'm hoping to set up an Anderson Census webiste similar to the one I built for the Cave families. An example of this can be seen at http://www.grin.net/~rickshay/cavescove/census/census.htm I have the NC 1820 census info at my website, and, if time provides, I hope to add 1850 & 1880 census info. If anyone has census info with page numbers, that would be most helpful. Thanks, Rick Anderson http://www.grin.net/~rickshay/anderson/JAnderson/WC_TOC.htm

Looking for parents of Noah Anderson. Have info on descendants. Dene Walls
Dear listers I was fortunate enough to go to the DAR library in Washington DC yesterday...unfortunate enough to get there an hour before close. I did get to see a file that a great aunt's cousin had done on a revolutionary ancestor, and on reading the lineage, I discovered my Hanna ANDERSON (who married David McDOWELL) in Mercer County, Pennsylvania was Pennsylvania Dutch. That's one more clue to who she was and where she came from I guess. Aside from who she married, that's about all I know about her. Does anyone have Pennsylvania Dutch in their lineage? Know of a good site about their genealogy? Did/do the Penn Dutch keep records like the Mormons and Quakers? Thanks for your help folks! Gail Itschner twlwwyth@aol.com
I would love to hear from anyone researching James Timothy Anderson and Coena (?) Marie Risner Anderson. I found the names but haven't seen any place of residence, time period, parents, children, etc. I am researching Timothy Smith Anderson born about 1815 in GA - moved from DeKalb Co., GA after 1840 to Cleburne Co., AL. I am looking for a possible connection. Bill
