    3. Good Morning Anders(s)on Researchers: I am searching for ancestors of JOHAN WILHELM ANDERSSON (known as John Anderson) and CLAES AXEL ANDERSSON (not sure of "Amerika name"). Johan was born Dec 18, 1855 in Vastra Husby Parish, Ostergotland and Claes was born May 19, 1852 in Ortomta Parish, Ostergotland, Sweden. They were brothers of my grandfather, CARL JULIUS ANDERSSON, (born October 29, 1869 Vastra Husby). JOHAN/JOHN immigrated to Minnesota from Gothenburg November 28, 1879. Believe him to be single at that time. CLAES AXEL, along with wife JOHANNA ELISABET NORDSTROM and daughter ANNA MARIA (born 1880) immigrated to Minnesota from Gothenburg May 6, 1881. My grandfather, CARL JULIUS ANDERSSON, immigrated to Minnesota from Gothenburg September 1, 1891. I have found JOHAN/JOHN living near Brainerd in a census but understand he later moved to Stockton, CA. Is anyone connected to these three brothers? I will be happy to share the info I have. Sure would be a nice Christmas gift to find ancestors of JOHAN/JOHN and CLAES AXEL. Also, if you have ancestors from Jonkoping, Sweden, there is an excellent website that has births, deaths and marriages. The URL is http://w1.361.telia.com/~u36104886/index.htm Happy hunting, Shirley Anderson ____________________________________________________________________ Get your own FREE, personal Netscape WebMail account today at http://webmail.netscape.com.

    3. Debra, The reason I ask this , is recently I found a lead that my William Anderson was in Amherst Co. around 1890 to 1900. I thought because the census said that the children were born in Green Co. , that they stayed their until their move to W.V. , but I feel that they were in Amherst Co. between the years 1890 to 1900. He was married twice , fist marriage to a Bette Bryant , second Virginia Smith , I have been tracking their footsteps for 3 yr. now and can't seem to find them prior to coming into West Virginia. He had three children by Bette ,who were Samuel , Hiram ,. and Bessie was just a tot when her mother died . I'm trying to separte two Anderson lines with similar information. Both were in the area of Anderson Co.(Knox Co.), TN in 1805. One is: 1. JOHN2 ANDERSON (WILLIAM1) was born 5 May 17501. Child of JOHN ANDERSON is: 2. i. JOHN3 ANDERSON, b. Abt. 1766, TN; d. 16 October 1830, Knox Co., TN. Generation No. 2 2. JOHN3 ANDERSON (JOHN2, WILLIAM1) was born Abt. 1766 in TN2, and died 16 October 1830 in Knox Co., TN3. He married MARY. Notes: Mary was the wife of John Anderson (per Mt. Hebron Primitive Baptist Church Records, Knox Co., TN). Child of JOHN ANDERSON and MARY is: 3. i. ELIZABETH4 ANDERSON, b. Abt. 1805, TN; d. Aft. 1869, MO. Generation No. 3 3. ELIZABETH4 ANDERSON (JOHN3, JOHN2, WILLIAM1) was born Abt. 1805 in TN4,5, and died Aft. 1869 in MO6. She married MILTON ANDREW JACKSON Bef. 1831. Notes for ELIZABETH ANDERSON: Witnessed a variety of pension papers and other documents in St. Francois Co., MO between 1865-1866 for her daughter, Rhoda. 3. Sarah, William and Bette were William Anderson Jr. and his third wife, Elizabeth Leake. The mother of Thomas Jefferson Anderson was Nancy Farrar but she died when he was very young, so the only mother he would have remembered was Elizabeth Leake although he did honor his mother by naming a daughter Nancy Farrar Anderson. 1. [ANDERSON-L] JAMES ANDERSON, b. 1763, Chester Co., PA.
    2. Ramsey
    3. OOPS, sorry - I made a typo in the subject on the last message - James was b. 1763, not 1663, in Chester Co., PA. He was only 14 years old during his military service, which lasted only about 6 months, in 1777. James' pension application indicates he moved to MD. about 1790. This would mean he was living in PA. until about age 27. Most men were married by this age. He married Rachel HOPKINS in 1801 in MD. Since he was 38 years old at the time, I'm thinking that it was likely that he was married before, probably in PA., and his son, James, Jr. (my ancestor), was a child of this previous marriage, since his birth date is earlier than his father's marriage to Rachel. Highland Pioneer Sketches & Family Genealogies, by Elsie Johnson Ayres, copyright 1972, p. 464 states: "James Anderson, 25 Mar. 1763 -September, 1850, was born in Chester Co., PA. He was the father of twelve children, some emigrated to the county with him. James, Jr., 1791 - 1856, served in the War of 1812, and became a captain. He married Margaret BROOKS and settled in Madison Twp. in 1822. Their four children were Sarah, 1823 - 1888 (Mrs. Robert WORTHINGTON), William (my GGgrandfather), b. 1821, Samuel, and Andrew Jackson, b. 1827, d. 1839. The family lived in town before moving to a part of the Worthington estate." I have more info on the burial locations of James and Rachel ANDERSON, and some on a couple of other children, but have not been able to compile a complete list of their twelve children. I also have data on my GGgrandfather, William, son of James, Jr., and the generations on down. If anyone out there thinks they might be connected to this family, please get in touch with me! I would love to piece this puzzle together. Regards and Happy Holidays - Lynne jesse@the-onramp.net

    3. I may have some data on this family but I am confused by the dates in your note. Born 1663, married 1891? Child born 1791? Migrated to OH in 1820--at age 157 years? Could you please clarify? 3. Carol, The researcher who found all this out was actually trying to find the father of her Samuel Anderson and the child turned out to be my Thomas J. Anderson. She eliminated William Anderson s/o David Anderson as he went to England and died there. She tracked this William sr. using tax records mainly. We do not know when he was born or where or who his parents were. This is what the researcher had to say about William Anderson Sr. - bc. 1742 - 1810, may be related to, but not a son of David Anderson, merchant of Hanover, who removed to Albemarle Co. and had eight sons William, Nathaniel, David Jr., Richard, Matthew, Thomas, Edmund and Samuel. Although Nathaniel (1742 - 1812), Matthew (1749 - 1833), and Thomas (1755 - 1800) resided at times in Buckingham Co., the oldest son, William (1740 - 1796) married Mary Gist and was an attorney in London, England where he died. He was a resident of Buckingham Co. by 1764, an original constituent of the Buckingham Baptist Church, slaveholder and planter. He left a will and estate of 412 acres near New Canton which was sold in 1826 to the John Anderson Estate. He was listed as Wm. Anderson on tax lists 1782 - 1795, listed as Captain (militia) on tax lists 1796 - 1799) ; listed as Wm. Anderson Sr. on tax lists 1800 - 1810 and on 1810 Federal Census. The children are documented as follows: Richard Anderson bc. 1762 was listed by name as 21 yr. old titable of Wm. Anderson on 1783 Buckingham Co. personal property tax lists. Listed as Captain beginning 1796 tax list; listed 1810 federal census with wife and 4 children. Only child document: Son William bc 1790 (listed as tithable, 1806 tax list for Capt. Rich. A. listed 1811 tax list as William A., "S Rich (son of Richard) James Anderson bc. 1764 (listed by name as 21 yr. old tithable of Wm. Anderson on 1787 tax list. m. ca. 1786 Janie Guerrant, d/o Peter Guerrant of Buckingham Co. had son James Jr. bc. 1788 ; first listed as James A. Jr. per 1804 tax list; listed 1810 - 1814 as James A. "BS (blacksmith); listed on 1810 and 1820 federal census as single male. John Anderson bc 1767 (listed as 21 yer old tithable of Wm. Anderson on 1788 tax list) of NewCanton, Anderson & Hill, and Anderson's Ordinary, had a carriage and ordinary liscense for B&B beginning 1799 per tax list; listed 1810 census as John Anderson with wife and six children. Son John Jr. bc. 1786(1802 tax list tithable of John Anderson) listed as John Jr. William Anderson Jr. bc. 1786 (listed by name as tithable of Wm. Anderson on 1790 tax list; listed as tithable of Wm. A., Capt. or Sr. on tax lists 1789 - 1805; listed separately as Wm. Jr. in 1806, the year he bought 140 acres nr. New Canton; listed as Captain (militia) beginning 1814 - 1840's; listed 1810 - 1840 fed. census; died in 1840s (tax roll #63 should indicate exact death year) Sally Anderson m. Robert Hill March 22, 1786. Robert Hill bc. 1766 - 1770, listed as tithable of Wm. A. Sr. on 1787 tax list; partner in Anderson and Hill of New Canton; 1813/1814 estate a resident; owned lots in New Canton; may have had a son, Robt. Hill Jr., who continued in the Anderson & Hill enterprise. That's all the documentation she found. I think she did a rather thorough job of it. 1. [ANDERSON-L] Causen Anderson
    2. Has anyone heard of a Causen E. Anderson, or a C. E. Anderson who was a Dr. in KY? Perhaps in Tennessee also? He was probably born in the 1850's, he married Missouri Kansas Tidwell in 1879 in Dickson Co. TN and went to KY. They had one daughter, Musie Dora, (Maude) who was b. in Jan. 1880. C. E. disappeared when she was a baby, but we have reason to think he wasn't killed, just left. If anyone has any clue about him, please let me know. Thanks, Janna Johns

    3. I don't know if William Sr. had any children in Ireland, I don't even know where he came from. He first appears in Buckingham Co. on the 1764 tax list as William Anderson, single tythe, owner of 660 acres and no wheeled carriages. In 1773 and 1774 he is charged with 8 and 7 tythes respectively. He is listed on the Buckingham Co. Personal Property Tax lists from 1782 to 1810 and then his estate listed afterwards. Now as to John, this is all I have on him - he was listed as 21 yr. old tithable of William Anderson on the 1788 tax list of New Canton, Anderson & Hill, and Anderson's Ordinary. He had a carriage and an ordinary license for a B&B beginning in 1799 tax list. He died 1811. I don't think this is your John. He married and had at least six children including a John Jr. bc. 1786. I don't know what became of John Jr. Hope this helps, Debra ----- Original Message ----- From: Kay Anderson <yak2usal@frontiernet.net> To: <ANDERSON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, December 12, 1999 5:39 AM Subject: Re: [ANDERSON-L] Andersons/Buckingham & Nelson Co.
