Hello all, My gr-gr-grandfather Joel Anderson was b. ca1809/10 in South Carolina. He married Jane Middleton d/o Willis Middleton in Monroe County, Alabama on 1 August 1838. He died there on 28 February 1870. Joel Anderson seems to be a fairly common name. There was another Anderson family in the same area of Monroe County who came from Abbeville. South Carolina. My Middletons came from Marion County, South Carolina. I also found evidence of a Joel Anderson there. I have been at this brick wall for twenty years. Any help at all will be greatly appreciated. This is my mother's maiden name line. Mary Alice IN CA

Your James Coleman Anderson is interesting. I have a David Melton Durham m. Jane Coleman daughter of James Coleman -Elizabeth Leake. They were married in Albermarle Co.,Va. abt 1784. They moved to Casey Co., Ky. where my Jonathan Anderson-Elizabeth Pettyjohn were also. Jonathan Anderson m. 2Feb.,1822 Pulaski Co., Ky. Just wonder if there is a connection, haave seen Leake name mention lately also.
Tom, I sure wish I could make a connection. William had a dau. Cecil M. Was b. Aug 17, 1890, in Elkhart Co., IN. too!!! I wonder???? All the info I have posted came from William's obit. That is really the only info I have on his father, and siblings. I also have an article from the local paper, in Millersburg, IN, that William's father came to visit his dau. Nettie (my gma) in 1915, and was living in Columbus, OH then. I have another "unconfirmed" report, that William's father James was m. in 1854, in Fayette Co., OH. William was b. in 1858 in Ross Co., OH, according to his marriage and death certificate. If your Celia was b. in 1830, I doubt if she is a sister to William, but she could be a sister to his father?? I do not have any information that his father, James was any place other than OH. Keep me posted if you think you can make a connection, or perhaps together we can figure out the "puzzle". FINALLY! Someone with MY Andersons!!! Vinson is my gg Grandfather !! I have been "searching" for about 17 years now and have quite a bit of information on the line. One of Vinson's sons, Robert ... my g grandfather, was born in 1825 in Telfair county. Since Robert was born in 1825 it isn't likely that your Henry is a direct descendent of Vinson's. My Anderson is a James as are so many others. Mine was b 1779-VA? He marr a Sarah Smith? c 1800 prob in VA.This family went from VA to KY and was in Henry Co,KY in 1810for the birth of the fifth child. The issue seems to be David b 1801-? ; Wm b c 1802- ?; Martha b 1804 -?;John b 1808-KY; James S. b 1810-Henry CO,KY; Robert S. b c 1812-Ky; Sarah b 1814-?; Mary Jane b 1816-?. John Anderson b 1808 went on to Ind as his first two children were born there.James W. b 1828-Ind;and Sarah A. b 1830-Ind. The entire family moves to Illcirca 1830 and finds John in Morgan Co,IL. Old James dies 1848 In Morgan Co,Il and the entire family is buried in the Anderson/Sooy Cem in Morgan Co,IL. Can anyone help with this families origin? Some family branches feel that the county of origin was Louden Co,Va. Thanks for your help, Don Hayes-Moline,IL.
Glad to see all the Anderson postings maybe I will be lucky!! I am searching for the Parents of John W. Anderson, born Jan 23, 1823 in Indiana. Where???? Married Sara Emiline Sinclair, daughter of Able Sinclair, Jan 22, 1843 in Macoupin County Ill. Sara was born in Anderson, Cty, Tenn. According to censes records John Ws father was born in Kentucky and his mother was born in Indiana. Thus it is most likely that they were married in Indiana before 1843. John and Sara moved to Johnson County, Missouri, then Linn County Kansas, and finally Wilson County Kansas. I can find John and Sara in the 1850 Macoupin County, Censes along with there children and have been able to follow them from then on. However I can not determine that they were related to any of the Anderson's in the Macoupin County, Ill. area. I hope someone is looking for this lost man. Thank You Randy Anderson, Bartlesville, Ok
Howard, Did you see my latest post on the Anderson list? I made a typo on the first post. It was suppose to be James Anderson, b. 1763, Chester Co., PA., not 1663. This James apparently married Rachel Hopkins in 1801 after migrating to MD. I believe he was previously married, as one of his sons, James, Jr., (my ancestor) was b. in 1791, before his marriage to Rachel. James, Sr. fathered twelve children, but I haven't been able to compile a complete list of them yet. Some of these children went to Ohio with him and Rachel before 1820. Did you say you might have some data on this family? Regards, Lynne jesse@the-onramp.net ---------- > From: Howard W. I found it interesting that James Anderson died in Illinois in 1830. My David Anderson died in Illinois in 1860, but he was born somewhere in Virginia in 1797. His father was named John and was probably born around 1750-60. David's best friend was named Thomas Jefferson North and David's son Robert married two of TJ's daughters! One after the other, of course. David also named one of his sons John H. I just can't find anything on David's father, John, and I am wondering if he could be a brother to one of these James. I suspect that I am connected to one of these Anderson families that migrated South, but it looks like my John stayed in Virginia and raised his family there and probably died there. Then his son David and all his children moved to Illinois before the Civil War, so they went West (somewhat) instead of South. I'd be willing to bet that John had more children than the one son David and I'll bet his father John had a bunch of siblings, too. So as all you Andersons are checking your databases looking for James and Johns, I'd sure appreciate it if you'd look for a David son of John, born in Virginia in 1797, as well. I'm just getting nowhere on this search for my John Anderson, but I know for a fact that he was in Virginia around 1790's as a relative has a bill of sale with his name on it. Any help sure would be appreciated. Susan in Milwaukee

Lorainne, I've noticed in my research that Thomas Jefferson was a very popular name with the Anderson clan. Maybe because he was of Scots descent and most of the Andersons on the east coast were too. My TJ was born 1807 when Tom Jefferson was still alive and kicking. Very interesting though, to see your page.
