    3. Ok, Ok, I'm embarrased to put MY one Anderson out there but here she is: Susannah Anderson - married Joseph Allen McClintock on 2 April 1809 in Philadelphia, PA. Susannah was born 1788 and died 30 May 1838. Susanah and Joseph were my gr gr gr grandpaents. All I know is Susannah's father was married to a Miss Gilpie. Supposedly Mr. Anderson a Scottish soldier and Miss Gilpie eloped and came to this country. They had Susannah in America. Of course dates on all of this are unknown! Well, THAT is it, List! Francis and Margaret had 7 sons and 2 daughters. Looking for any possible connections or hints. I hit the old ANDERSON wall and have been here for a year and you ANDERSON researchers know what that is about! (:-) Sincerely, David Anderson

    1. Re: [Fwd: [ANDERSON-L] Swedish and Norweign Andersons in Illinosis/Iowa then ...
    2. Ellen Picard, I am blown away that someone else has an Anderson marrying a North! What line of North family? Mine came from England to Ireland, to PA in 1729, then to VA in 1790. I think almost all of the Norths in America came from two or three lines, all coming early to America. My George North and John Anderson were bet friends in VA, their sons Thomas Jefferson North and David Anderson were close friends, and Thomas Jefferson North had two daughters who married David's son, Robert Ferguson Anderson. I think the activity on this list is really interesting. I am seeing a pattern emerge somewhat and am wondering if there aren't a lot of family lines that are really connected but we can't find the pieces yet to make it happen. There seems to be a movement down the Eastern states to either the South or the South and then the Midwest, or in some cases, directly to the Midwest. My line left VA around 1850 or earlier and went directly to Illinois. There seem to be quite a few who went to Illinois. Does anyone know what was happening at that time to draw these families in these patterns of movement? We might be able to connect up some of these lines if we knew more about what was influencing them to move in these particular directions. Susan in Milwaukee

    3. I might as well throw my Andersons into the pot. I am working on William Anderson b. July 8, 1820 in NC. He moved to Beardstown, Cass Co., Illinois where he married Lavina White (Cale/Cole). This was Lavina's second marriage. Both William and Lavina died in Cass Co. They had 7 children: Henry C. Anderson b. 1838 (believed to be from her first marriage because she didn't marry William until 1939). Leonidas Anderson b. 7/12/1848 d. 8/27/1910 m. Dinah Lafayette Cundiff Christina A. 2. Hello and Happy Holidays to all the Anderson families. I'm new to the Anderson list and must say overwhelmed by all the info these last few days. My children's ancestral line, include Emoline/Emeline Anderson .The only info at this time is that she married James Bradley Muse 12 Oct.1861 Bedford,Tn.(unproven) Source info from:Dr.Roger David Chambers and Lou Andrew Murphy. Mollie Muse,my childrens gggrandmother, b.26 March 1866 in Bedford Co.Tn., daughter of James Bradley Muse and Emoline/Emeline Anderson, married her first cousin Millard Filmore Muse in Texas abt.1888/1889,d.26 Feb. 1914 Jonesboro,Arkansas. Mollie's death record states that both parents(James Bradley Muse and Emoline Anderson) were from Bedford Co.,Tn. Does anyone on the Anderson list recognize Emoline/Emeline Anderson as part of their genealogy. Any help in finding her parents would be greatly appreciated. Jean in La.

    2. I don't believe our lines connect, but then I don't know much about my grandfather's siblings as he ran away from home at an early age. My maternal grandfather was Andrew Peter Anderson, born in Chariton Iowa after his parents (Karl Johan Anderson and Elisa Andersdottir) came to this country from Jonkoping, Sweden in about 1875. His older sister Annie married a Charles F. Sandahl in Chariton about 1879. I've been hoping to locate descendants of my grandfather's siblings, as my mother was an only child and there are therefore no close relatives on our Swedish side. Regards, Charles J. (Charlie) Jefferson.

    3. I think this is great. It is this kind of exchange that helps us find the most elusive of ancestors. If people keep good subject lines and capitalize all surnames it will make "speed reading" this volume of posts a breeze. So many Andersons, so little mine. Still looking for ANDERSONS in MN, WI, WA. Direct lines married to STEVENS, same places. > HI listees, > > > > I just wanted to remind you that if the increased volume of messages is a > > problem, please consider switching over to digest mode by unsubscribing from > > anderson-l-request@rootsweb.com > > and subscribing to >

    1. [ANDERSON-L] NY Scottish Andersons
    2. Wendy Scalfaro
    3. Hi, I'm overwhelmed by the amount of Anderson research going on. Is anyone researching Scottish Andersons in New York? My biggest problem right now is that I don't have the name of my immigrant Anderson ancestor. I do know that he came from Scotland and ended up in Utica, NY. The info I do have is sketchy: My grandmother remembers her grandfather as "Pop" Anderson, and that he may be buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Rochester, NY. He married a woman from New York. They had three children that I know of so far: Mary Gertrude ANDERSON, b: abt. 1891 d: 13 March 1935 Lillian ANDERSON, b: ? d: after 1961 Charles ANDERSON ?????????? As far as I can tell, the children were all born in Utica, NY. Mary Gertrude (my gr-grandmother) married: (1st) William PENDERY (of Ohio?) abt. 1907, and had Grace Lillian PENDERY (my grandmother, b: 1908); Beatrice PENDERY (b: abt. 1910) (2nd) ? PRAECHTEL 1917 (3rd) A. Lee WHITWORTH July 1925 According to letters from ther 3rd husband, she died in Washington, DC. Lillian married Patrick MCSWEENEY who died abt. 1926. I have no information on Charles ANDERSON. Do any of these names ring a bell with anyone? I'm waiting for my great-grandmother's death certificate to arrive from DC which will hopefully give me her parents' names. Has anyone ever requested death certificates from DC? If so, how long did it take? It's been about a month so far. Thanks. 1. [ANDERSON-L] Anderson from Maine and Canada
    2. Okay, I'll bite. I have passively been waiting, rather than active on this list. My Anderson's I have back to 1700's in Canada and Maine with several Migrations to the Midwest before settling in MI. There are hints of origination to North America from England around 1700 for this line, but nothing more than that. My feeling is that there are Scottish/ Irish/ English. Any help or anyone interested in sharing info, (I have a lot, and toomuch to put here, when most poeple won't connect), but am hopeful for something, and wish everyone luck in this great info going around lately! Thanks, Kris Anderson Mauro
