David, I am looking for the parents of John W. Anderson born 1-22-1823 somewhere in Indiana. Married Jan 1843 in Macoupin County, Ill. Censes records state that his father was from Kentucky and his mother from Indiana. I have much more information on John W. Anderson after 1843, but do not know anything else. Except that one 90+ year old 2 nd Cousin just told me that she remembers being told that our Andersons came from Ireland, however that isn't anything positive. Wife Mary (surnameunknown) m:c1768 they migrated to Abbeville, SC had 5 daughters: Jane b:c1794, Marjorie b:c1775, Margaret b:c1800, Mary b:c1763 and Catherine b:c1772 and one son AMOS b:c1783 ---- all kids born in Abbeville, SC Joseph ANDERSON then moved c1790 to Randolph Co., IL and lived in Scotch/Irish part of town.. but wife stayed briefly in SC, as Joseph was a possibly/probably a "trail leader" for westward migration of Rev War Vets claiming IL 'bounty land" for Rev War Service. He served 28 months as a Sgt in Rev War 1779-1781 with Col George Rogers CLARK in the NorthWest IL-IN-KY Campaign, serving in Captain BOWMAN'S unit. I know there are several on this list that are looking for the same line, so I'll throw it out in hopes someone might be able to provide us some help. My gg-grandfather, GEORGE L. MAYFIELD b. 1848 in Covington Co., MS, married MARY JULIA ANDERSON b. 1847 in Smith Co., MS. For a long time I and others had relied on DAR research that tied Mary Julia to James Anderson/Agnes Craig line. But I do not believe that is accurate. So, I am searching for Mary Julia's line again. She is the daughter HIRAM ANDERSON (b. Sept 23, 1826, Ellisville, MS) and MARY ANNE E.DUVALL (b.1821, Jones Co., MS). Hiram is the son of ISAAC ANDERSON (b. ca 1785, place UK) and TERESIA POWELL (b. 1789, Edgefield Co., SC). I don't know anything else about Isaac or his parents. I have seen a number of posts the past days tied to Mississippi and South Carolina. Am hoping someone may have some clue to these people. He is supposed to have been WILLIAM SILAS ANDERSON and his father was said to have been ROBERT BAXTER ANDERSON who came from NEW JERSEY. What do you( or any other subscriber) have on this family???? Has anyone come across a marriage ,death and where buried , on Obediah Anderson and Emalina Booten? They were from Orange Co. , Virginia , I know he died in Richmond Hospital of Typhoid Fever, his wife received a pension from the Government where he had served in the war . She died I think abt.1838 I know Orange Co. can cover quite a big area in Virginia , but thought someone may have something on these two people . Maybe even who her parents were? My Thomas Anderson, b 1832 (a census report states born in Maryland) came to South Carolina. He married in 1858 Nancy Jane Richardson (b.1836 in SC, dau of Abram Boity and Nancy M. Richardson of SC). They produced three sons: 1- Samuel John Anderson b 1858 in Fairfield County, SC. He served in US Navy and lived most of his life in New York City. At his death in 1933, his body was returned to SC and buried in Richardson Cemetery in Simpson, Fairfield County, SC Obit lists no spouse or children, so we presume he never married. 2- James Reuben Anderson b 1862 in Fairfield County, SC. Married in 1882 to Bertha Monteith Hoagland and they made their home in Chester County, SC where they raised their 8 children (have full info on these children if anyone is interested) 3- Joel Thomas Anderson b 1865 in Fairfield County, SC married first to Ella Grist (no known children) and second to Julia Catherine Albright with whom he produced three children. Thomas and Nancy Anderson died when their two youngest sons were relatively young. These two boys moved to nearby Chester county and worked for the railroad. I don't think that is the case in this family, the census report in W. V. states the children were born in Green Co. Va. , and it was stated by the family that they were born in Amherst Co. Va., is Amherst and Green that close together ? I really have been trying to follow this families footsteps for over two years now , I feel as if I have gotten nowhere.
