My friend is deceased. She was a secretary for the Masonic Temple. If your have contact with a lodge large enough to have a secretary, contact the secretary and request a search of the Surname in the particular state you are interested. If you are speaking of old records all they have is the name, date they joined any particular lodge, if their dues were current (the period I obtained information for was 1850-1900). If it is recent records they now obtain the parents names of the individuals who join. However, I think you can only obtain information on deceased individuals. They did have the correct death date from my great grandfather. Martha --part1_56.279369.25b25864_boundary--

    3. This is the first time I've written to the Anderson list. I'm looking for members of John ANDERSON family from Perquimans Co NC. John was born 1694, his daughter, Mary born 1720, married William ARNOLD in Perquimans Co. Does any one have proof of this marriage? William & Mary Arnold are my 5th great grand parents, they are listed in the Encyclopedia of American Quaker Geneaology, Vol 1 by Wm Wade Hinshaw. This couple died in NC in Feb 1773 and their daugh-in-law Rebecca Arnold died at the same time. Does anyone know the reason for the deaths? Was it disease, Indian uprising or something else? I have lots of info on these Arnold descendants and will be anxious to hear and share. ardie@fortwayne.infi.net

Virginia in 1764 and got to Green Co. to his first marriage to a Betty Bryant and their three children , and then his second marriage to Virginia A. Smith they have six children in Green Co. , Virginia , but have not in the 31/2 years that I have been searching found the second wife and him on any records . 2. Mary Alice Thomas
    3. Hello all, Sheila's answers are very good if you are looking for a man who was a Mason. However, if you are looking for data on a woman or man who belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star you will need to contact the Grand Chapter of the State in which she/he was a member. If you happen know what Lodge or Chapter your ancester belonged to you can write to the Secretary of that body provided it is still extant. My own Chapter, Oklahoma Chapter #10 merged a few years ago with Fidelis Chapter # 426, thus becoming Fidelis - Oklahoma #426. These Chapters are in Oklahoma City. [I still belong there for sentimental reasons.] At that time the Secretary of the newly merged Chapter was able to provide me with information concerning my late mother's initiation. Oklahoma #10 conferred the degrees for Colgate Chapter since mother was living in that area at the time. Do not expect any genealogical information from a Masonic Lodge as a man did not need to have a relative who belonged. He petioned of his own free will and needed to be at least 21 years of age. In most jurisdictions a woman needed to be a daughter, wife, mother, sister, or widow of a Freemason in order to petition OES for membership. My father was a 50+ year member as was my mother. I have belonged for 55 years, and I was also a Rainbow Girl. Mary Alice in Los Angeles
