    3. SPECIAL genealogy holiday breaks to allow people from all over the world to trace their family roots are being launched today. Visitors to Skene House in Aberdeen will be given fact sheets about the clan names and their north-east origins, and staff will help pre-plan ancestral trail itineraries. The short breaks are targeted at those whose ancestors bore the names Fraser, Burnett, Irvine, Farquharson, Gordon, Forbes or Skene, some of the most famous clans in the area, but the name Presley has been added to the list because of the recent revelation that Elvis Presley's ancestors came from the Peterhead district. Peter Medley, general manager of Skene House Suites said: "North-east Scotland is a popular destination for people tracing their family history. "We've acted on this at Skene House Suites and we're offering help to visitors who are tracing their links to the many clans which are associated with the area The recent coverage about Elvis Presley's local roots has stimulated a great deal of genealogical interest in this area. The family seats of the biggest and most widely scattered clans - Fraser, Burnett, Irvine, Farquharson, Gordon, Forbes and of course Skene - can all be found here." The accommodation is within walking distance of the Aberdeen and North-East Scotland Family History Society, which is an ideal starting point for genealogical research. Mr Medley added: "Over the generations, countless people have left the north east of Scotland to find fame and fortune further afield. "Now their descendants are returning to the area to find out about them and want to maximise the time they have here. "Scotland is seeing increasing numbers of genealogy tourists and our genealogy weekends are designed to help them get the most out of their visits."
