I sometimes use the IGI (International Genealogical Index) at the LDS' site: http://www.familysearch.org/ The IGI will show localities where certain individuals with certain surnames had baptism/christening and marriage events occur. This may give you clues in researching the Peaufore name. Also try Rootsweb's WorldConnect databases. Search for Peaufore in localities where your Anderson's lived. Also ask about the Peaufore's on a mailing list for the locality where your Anderson's lived. Just some random suggestions.

    3. Following are Anderson notes from Freestone Co TX and Rankin/Hinds Cos MS for anyone researching the name in those areas. James married Elizabeth Noland. Most of their children went to Freestone Co TX. Evidently Jemima's son Henderson, not shown in her household in the Rankin Co 1850 census, was living in 1900 in Leon Co TX, where William I. Anderson is found in 1880. ====================================== 1850 CENSUS, HINDS CO MS, shows several Anderson households, including these: 31 ROBERT ANDERSON 51 SC, Massie 48 female, Lorenzo 29 female SA (GA?,LA?), Uritissa COOK 27 SA (GA?,LA?), Archibald 38, James M. 19, Fredrick 16, Thomas J. 9, Amanda J. 8, Mary M. 6 32 ---- Anderson, 25 TX, male, teacher 821 JEFFERSON ANDERSON 41 GA, Mahala 25, William 14, Nancy 12, Sarah 10, Henry 8, John 5 A query to the West Family Genealogy Forum http://genforum.genealogy.com/west/messages/4979.html states Robert Anderson married Massey West in 1819 in St. Helena Parish, LA. A WorldConnect Project submission says West was the maiden name of Jemima Anderson of Rankin County. Jefferson Anderson's family was listed next to Jemima's in the 1860 Rankin Co census. A WorldConnect submission re James Anderson gives an Ohio origin for him. Whatever documentation exists for this should be examined. Oliver Anderson is shown as born in Louisiana around 1807. Note that the census readings suggest that both Oliver and Robert went from Louisiana to Mississippi. If Jefferson and Jemima were connected to Robert, and if James and Oliver were connected to them, then, rather than coming from Ohio, the family would appear to have made their way to TX via SC>GA>(AL?)>LA>MS. ================================ Whether William I. Anderson of Leon Co and neighboring Freestone Co is William, son of James and Elizabeth, I can't say. The William M. Anderson, age 16, in the Malone household and Martha in the Weaver household in Freestone Co in 1860 would presumably have been children of James and Elizabeth. Names, initials, ages and birthplaces were often recorded incorrectly on the census, but William I. would only have been around 11 in 1860, if his year of birth in the 1900 census and on his tombstone is correct. According to WorldConnect submissions, it would appear there was a Malone and Noland family connection prior to their coming to TX and that would account for the orphaned William being in Isaac Malone's household in 1860. 1880 CENSUS, LEON CO, TX LDS transcription, Dist. 3, Page 176B W. It names eight children: Jim, Will, Neil, Arch, Jess, [Winston], Piety (deceased) and Mrs. D. R. Claridge. ================================= 1900 CENSUS, FREESTONE CO, TX (First name of the head of this household is overwritten and illegible. Middle initial looks like E. I was wondering if they were related to Isaac Anderson, who settled in Jones County. Isaac Anderson is listed as a pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, in Lamar County, MS, from September 1881-October, 1882. The other Andersons lived in neighboring communities, and there were quite a few Baptist preachers among them. With the oral history of three brothers coming from the Carolina's, I thought perhaps they were related. I saw a Stacey Anderson listed as a Confederate Soldier on a Civil War web site.

Hello My name is Paul Pruitt and I am working on a Anderson family, and a lot of the names that you have listed on the posting below, come very close. Do you know where in Texas your grand father lived?? and where in Calif. did your father live?? Here is some of what I have, see if any of it fits with your information. I have been trying to get in touch with some of John Henry Anderson's brothers descendants. I thought they all had all girls, so the name Anderson died there, but maybe not. I am trying to locate the descendants of Edward James Anderson born about 1860. He married Mable Myrick (Myaler) They had two daughters Wanda Canelia Anderson born 10 Sept 1924 in Ellis Co. Texas. Also his brother Daniel Anderson born May 1862 He married Susie in 1894. They also had two daughters, Lake Anderson born Dec 1894 Ellis Co. Texas and Pearl Anderson born Feb 1898 Ellis Co. Texas. I have information on, these two brothers other brother, John Henry Anderson. Need information on their parents and two sisters. John Henry Anderson is my wife’s Great Grand Father. He also had mostly girls, he had two sons, one died young and the other never married. So that Anderson name line ended there. But I almost know there are some descendants of his brothers are still out there. As you can see some of the names are close, do the dates fit?? Some of the names I have may be wrong. Danial's wife, the only name I have is Susie. That may be a nick name. We call Our oldest daughter "Susie" and her name is Donna Sue. I can see where your father might have been named after his father and one of his uncles. I understand that when John Henry Anderson was about 8 or 9 years old something happened to both parents. The children were raised by another family. John Henry Anderson some times used the name John Henry Singlton Anderson. So that could be the family that raised him or his mother's relatives, or both. Hope some of this fits. I have a lot of information on John Henry Anderson's descendants. And a lot of stories about him and them. Talk to you later. Paul [email protected]

My Grfather Benjamin Jesse Anderson was the child of Isaac and Amanda. Until now, I have had lots of information about Isaac and his descendents and his wives' families, but none about Isaac's siblings or ancestors. It has been confusing because there are so many Andersons with the same names. The information sent to me recently is that Isaac and Stacey were sons of Asa Anderson and Norvell (also in Capt.Claytons Co) was their nephew. Asa was a brother of the Isaac who married Teressa Powell and Sarah Deason. Does this agree with your information? I would very much like to share information.
