Dated Thursday, April 16, 1925 Half Century Citizen Die At Ceylon Home John Anderson Succumbs To Illness Lasting Week Funeral Held Here Sunday Large Crowd Attend, Showing Esteem In Which He Was Held This county lost one of its most highly respected citizens in the death of John Anderson, who passed away at this home in Ceylon Thursday evening following an illness of a week’s duration. Mr. Anderson was one of the well known citizens of this community, having lived in Elm Creek township for 42 years, moving to Ceylon in 1920. Funeral services were held at Sherburn in the Federated church Sunday afternoon. The respect in which he was held was evidenced by the large crowd which attended the funeral and by the many floral offerings. Rev. Walker of Ceylon had charge of the services and was assisted by Rev. Nickerson of Sherburn. Interment was made in Sherburn Cemetery. The pall bearers were Chas. Landin, Ben Benson, Chas. Bettin, Arthur Anderson, Wm. Grill and John Rohwedder. John Anderson was born December 24, 1848 at Wermland, Sweden. At age of 30 years he came to America, settling in Chicago, where he lived for 8 years. In 1883 he was married to Miss Marie Larson. To this union were born six children. In 1888 he, with his family, moved to Minnesota, settling in Sherburn, where he had resided continually except for spent at Wheaton, Minn., and four years in Ceylon, Minn., where the end came peacefully April 9, at the age of 76 years, 3 months and 17 days. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, two sons, Charles and Hjalmer of Ceylon, and two daughters, Mrs. H. G. Miller, and Miss Carrie of Sherburn, and three sisters of New York City. Two sons, Andrew and Ernest, preceded him in death. ~Volunteer Posting.

I just found out from a 1920 census that my grandfather was married prior to my grandmother, and that my uncle Harold and Aunt Marion Anderson Fox were from that previous marriage and the marriage was to Mary McQuire, and I have a photograph of Kate McQuire. I have no proof of this, just an interview with Cecelia's daughter, Shirley Young. Ida then remarried Albert Tullock, and is listed in 1920 St Louis (Wellsely) Census with Orin, Charles and Cecelia. Ida was unable or unwilling to state who Seley's parents were when she provided the information on the Death Certificate. Seley died 1915, and is buried in Calvary Cemetery. Ida is also buried in the same area. J'Anette
