    3. I am wondering if anyone saw the following message I posted on May 24: I am searching for confirmation of the marriage of my 5th great grandparents: Samuel ANDERSON Rev.Sol. b. abt 1740 d. 1828 SC. He married Mary HINTON b. (?) SC d. 1810 SC.(her father was Robert-RevSol) They had a daughter Rachel Frances ANDERSON b. 1759 SC who married John KNIGHT, Rev.Sol. I have a DAR application pending for Samuel ANDERSON. They want proof that Rachel ANDERSON was the daughter of Samuel ANDERSON and Mary HINTON. I have many documents, but the DAR won't accept them. They insist on a document that states that the Rachel (or Rachel Frances ANDERSON) who was married to John KNIGHT was their daughter. I wonder if someone on this list has Mary HINTON in HINTON line - and- if so perhaps would have information to share. I will be most grateful for any information on he above. Thank you. Surnames: ANDERSON Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Wl.2ADIB/8783.1.2.1.1 Message Board Post: The only thing you'll get from a copy of the original application is the applicants handwriting their name, date of birth, place of birth (if I remember correctly) and the names of their parents and of course their SS#. If you want all this pay the fee. Purchasing a copy of the "original" birth certificate from a local registrar's office is less expensive than through the State. You will get informative info on what doctor attended the birth, birthdate, name of baby, mother, father. I buy as many birth certificates as I can afford to budget. Got most of all my deceased family. Hard getting any from 1880, unless you got to the Historical Society and get some type of newspaper article on birth notices.

    1. Clifton Anderson's daughter Phyllis, looking for my cousin
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Anderson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Wl.2ADIB/8787 Message Board Post: My mother was Lantie Mae Anderson Smith who lived in Georgia. She was the daughter of Alvin Preston Anderson and Martha Clark Anderson. Her brother Clifton Anderson, moved to Corpus Christie, Texas, and had a daughter, Phyllis, in the 1940's. He and his wife (Iris) divorced, and not long after, he was killed in an auto accident. That was in about 1951. My mother had had some contact years ago, but that has been lost. I think she was raised by her mother and step father, so she may not have even have used the Anderson name. If she had siblings, they would not have been Andersons, she was her father's only child. The only other thing I can recall is that my mother told me Phyllis had twins and that she had the Clark eyes (bright blue eyes). I have never met her. We would love to find our cousin Phyllis.

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Anderson, Omohundro Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/5519/Wl.2ADIB/8732.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Here's MY brick Anderson wall: Seley Edgar Anderson born 1863, Murray Township, Northumberland, Ontario Canada. Wife Katie unknown. Two children Philip Edgar Anderson and Katie Anderson. Father John Allen Anderson born 1840, Murray, Northumberland, Ontario, died 1902 place unknown. Wife Sarah McNary, born 1839 Canada, died 1871 place unknown. Married 1860, Ontario Canada. Children: Margaret Marie Anderson, b. 1861; Seley Edgar, b. 1863; Oron Gerald Anderson b. 1864 {Wife Mary Stewart}; Joshua Jeshoran Anderson, b. 1868. Apparently, Sarah's family came from Berne NY, father Seley McNary, lots of kids. They then went to Iowa in time for the 1910 or 1920 census. Oron Gerald Anderson and Wife Mary Stewart{b. 1865} married 1902, had kids: Walter Stewart Anderson, b. 1903; Charles Henry Anderson, b. 1904; William Ernest Anderson, b. 1904 {apparently twins}. My Brick Wall: Is this family in general and Seley Edgar Anderson in particular related to or the same as my Seley E. Anderson found in St Louis 1910, stated naturalized 1890, but no record found of him before 1910. Wife could not or would not record my Seley's parent's names at time of death. My Missouri Seley Anderson b. 1862 in English Canada, d. 1915, St Louis MO. Wife Ida Omohundro {b. 1875, d. 1937} married 1901 St Louis MO. First child listed in 1910 census is two years older than the marriage, his name is Edgar Anderson b. 1899 {MO is listed, but is it really MO?} If this si the same man as the Canadian Seley, then I would think this is Philip Edgar? Other sons are Charley Anderson, b. 1904; Oren T. Anderson, b. 1906; Cecelia Hazel Anderson b. 1910. Missouri Seley's obit lists two other children Frank and Ma-something or other {the obit was torn, more's the pity}. Getting information on this man is like pulling hen's teeth! I want very much to include a connextion with these two men, based on similarities of births, of names, of places. Also, in the same burial plot -- Calvary Cemetery -- is Katie Anderson, died 1901, the same year Missouri Seley married Ida Omohundro. If they are connected, this would be first wife Katie. Oh, what a tangled web we deceive, when first we try to unweave!
