The annual Nelson Reunion for the descendants of Jave and Ellen Evans Nelson will be July 24, 2004, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Farmers Grove Baptist Church fellowship hall. Covered dish lunch will be at noon. There will be fun and games for the kids, displays of family pictures and memorabilia to view, and singing in the evening. The books which will be available at the Johnson Reunion will also be available at the Nelson Reunion, as this is a joint effort of the two groups. Evans and Permelia York Evans.Thomas was a Civil War Soldier and is buried at Sunset Cemetery. Following the Civil War, they came from Knox County, Kentucky to Union County, then Claiborne County, where Permelia died. He was born on October 20, 1947, in Woodland, CA. He is survived by his parents, Robert and Shirley Anderson; his wife of 22 years, Judith Wearne Anderson; daughter, Alissa Marie; son, Evan David; brothers, John and his wife Kathleen, and Donald and his wife Sue; sisters, Anne, and Linda Silver and her husband Craig; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graduate of San Marcos High School in San Marcos, he moved to San Antonio in May 1946 and attended San Antonio College for 1 year. Mr. Anderson retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in 1986 after 40 years of service. Delegates of the Texas Labor Hall of Fame approved Dan Anderson (CWA) for membership in the Texas Labor Hall of Fame. Induction will take place at the Texas AFL-CIO COPE Convention in January 2002. A plaque bearing his photo and major accomplishments will be installed in the auditorium at Texas AFL-CIO headquarters in Austin.
