Anctil, 94, of Church St., died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born on February 24, 1906, in Warren, R.I., the son of Gustave and Emeratine (Langlois) Anctil. He worked for the railroad in Rouses Point for a number of years before opening Anctil’s Bakery in Champlain in 1934. He operated the bakery until 1988. Leo served in the army during WWII from 1943-1945 in the 724th Railway Operating Battalion as a cook and baker in Germany and France. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Champlain and the American Legion Post 767 in Champlain. He married Edna Favreau on Jan. 15, 1946. Survivors include his wife, Edna (Favreau) Anctil of Champlain; three sons and daughters-in-law, John and Susan of Mooers Forks, Bryan and Sharron and Mark and Claire, all of Rouses Point; two sisters, Mary Ann Greene and Lucille Merchant of Rouses Point; a brother, Francis Anctil of Rouses Point; a sister-in-law, Eva Favreau of Rouses Point; six grandsons, Matthew, Andrew, Jonathan, Aaron, Nathan and Barry; one granddaughter, Nathalie Faubert and her husband, Joseph. He is predeceased by two brothers, Albert and Henry Anctil and two sisters, Lena Moquin and Mary Jane Lefebvre. Calling hours will from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at Clark Funeral Home in Champlain. The American Legion will meet at the funeral home at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Church in Champlain. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
