Most of my information was gleaned from community history books (one on Darlingford, Manitoba and another on Grenfell, Saskatchewan), message boards, ancestry.ca and online records. Neither of the books mentions Thomas coming to Canada. I am aware of other Amy families west of Ontario but have no idea how or if they are related to us. Afternoon All Amy's on the Ottawa. Just to fill in gap - there are Amy's in the region of Portage du Fort on the Ottawa river. They are most likely descedants of John Amy of Jersey (Channel Isles). He lived in Quebec for some time but returned to Jersey towards the end of his life. Although many of his descendants remained on the North American continent.
