The age on the census forms varies enough that it's not very useful evidence one way or another, but I'm not completely prepared to assume that the source that gave the birth date for the cemetery records or whoever did the math once they had the date was correct. I think the best evidence you have to negate the Micah tie is the 26 Sep date for the MN Thomas Amy. Although the Amys aren't a focus of my current research, I'll keep my eye out and mark this in my notes. My connection to the Amy family is through Thomas' daughter, Martha. She's my 3rd great grandmother through her marriage to Reuben W. Edminster. Their son, Albin, was my 2nd great grandfather. I have a picture of a very aged Martha if you're interested. PA found on the 1850 and 1880 census record is not the son of Micah, Jr. The info on his cemetery records (Riceville PA) states specifically that he died 16 Dec 1884; 81 years, 8 mo. 10 days. That would put his birthday at 06 Apr 1803. There is another Thomas Amy born in VT that has a cemetery record in Steele Co. MN, that states he died 02 Sep 1884 and born 26 Sep 1805. I think we all know that the record in VT states that Thomas AMY born to Micah Jr. was born 26 Sep 1806. I think the logical conclusion is that the MN Thomas is Micah's son. I, like many others, have claimed Micah Jr. as Thomas Amy's (PA)father. I am now trying to learn who the real father is. If anyone has any facts to the contrary I would appreciate it.
