    3. If there are any of you that are part of this mailing list who have had the opportunity to review Riedesel’s Order Book and have taken down names from the book, I would appreciate if you could check for the following two men: 1. Johann Friedrich Tohn aka John F. Tohn/Tone. Born Saxony, Germany probably about 1750-52; fought at Bennington; 2. Johann Andreas Hensee (possibly Johann Andreas Hentze) aka Andrew Hensey. Born Germany; fought at Bennington with Lt. Col. Baum’s Prinz Ludwig Dragoon Regiment; was a prisoner Both ended up in the household of James Gordon in Voluntown, Connecticut shortly after Bennington. I have been unable to determine how they got there whether via escape during the march, escape from POW status, or whether they were farmed out and did not return to their German ranks. Both enlisted in 1781 with the Connecticut Line and served to the end of the war with Col. Samuel B. Webb’s Third Connecticut Regiment. I have not found reference to either of these men in either Reuter’s Brunswick Troops in North America 1776-1783 or in any of the Clifford Neal Smith monograms, and I would greatly appreciate any additional information that might be contained in Riedesel’s Order book. Since I live across country from New York, it is not possible for me to access the book myself Mary
