Hi! I'm new to this mailing list, and would appreciate any help or tips to get my started! I'm researching an ancestor of mine who pops up in Lancaster County PA in 1783, and I suspect he may have been a Hessian solider who remained in America. His name was John Gordon/Gordin/Gorden. He later migrated to Allegheny County PA in 1789 with his brother-in-law Johannes Crede, who served in Rohl's*spelling regiment. Does anyone know where I might start searching for in regards to Hessian soldiers in the Lancaster PA area? Thanks in advance! Freeman Bartek
Hi Freeman: The name of Crede's regiment might be a clue for you to follow. I suspect that Rohl is misspelled as Rall. The von Rall regiment was captured at Trenton. The Johannes Schwalm published the list of prisoners in an early copy of their journal. They sell copies of the list independently so you might email or write to them for a copy.Curt > Date: Mon, 7 May 2012 22:08:09 -0400 > From: [email protected] > To: [email protected] > Subject: [AMREV-HESSIANS] John Gordin around Lancaster PA > > Hi!
