Hi Doug, Would you explain by what is meant that Georg Blumme was not avail for exchange in 1777 & 1778. I am the one that started this thread on George Bloom, my 4greats grandfather. Thank you for the information that you have sent. In that list, File No. 53, Source Code g, is listed Georg Blumme, Artiliary Regiment, no Company listed. He is listed as having worked for Philip Gloninger in Lebanon, PA, but no Lancaster Exchange List numbers are given. This would indicate to me that he wasn’t available for exchange in 1777 & 1778. Suzanne, The part - He is listed as having worked for Philip Gloninger in Lebanon, PA, "but no Lancaster Exchange List numbers are given", is indicative he wasn't exchanged. He could have left the custody of Phillip Gloninger, so he couldn't be exchanged or by then volunteered to stay and join a colinist army group. But not being numbered indicates he was not exchanged. That is how I understand it. Who was Philip Gloninger ... Was he a soldier for the colinists? he needs to be researched too. help document your man. The Americans (Colonists) did not have adequate jails, so some Hessians were farmed out to help farmers . Your man George was farmed out... to Philip Gloninger. need to check the Lutheran church records for Lebanon, PA to see if he left any records there.. Nelda L. Hi Nelda, I have been doing a lot of searching this evening. I did find a Phillip Gloninger as having taken an "Oath of Loyalty" in Lebanon, PA., but did not find anything yet that connects him with Georg. I will keep searching. I have actually been helped by all of the responses to my initial email. I am still as confused as ever, but I do hope to get to the bottom of it. Thank you for your help. I really do appreciate everyone's responses.
